<p>Constitution of the Hepatitis B Positive</p><p>1) Name.</p><p>The name of the Group shall be: The Hepatitis B Positive </p><p>2) Aim.</p><p>The aim and objects of the Group shall be:</p><p>What does Hepatitis B Positive aim to do?</p><p>← Raises awareness about the need for our 10 million citizens at risk to obtain their Hepatitis B Safety Tests & Vaccinations Campaigns for Premiership Blood Hygiene in our Schools and Workplaces</p><p>← A Voice for Patients and their Unmet Needs in Parliament</p><p>← Offers Positive advice and information to individuals with HBV infection or to their families and friends, providing a 'bespoke' service by phone/email/post. </p><p>← A HBV Tests Explained Service & Just Diagnosed Information</p><p>← A Hep B Mums service</p><p>← Campaigns to universal immunisation for all newborns. </p><p>← Campaigns to secure the best possible services in the UK for the management of hepatitis B virus-related liver diseases, including liver cancer.</p><p>Why is Hepatitis B Positive needed?</p><p>← In Out of the Shadows Hepatitis B Infection in the UK, Hepatitis B Positive estim- ates that there are around 510,000 people with chronic HBV infection in the UK, most in dire need of diagnosis. </p><p>← National ignorance of the infection is leading to a £400 million preventable mor- bidity and mortality cost and 15,000 unnecessary infections a year</p><p>← People with chronic HBV infection, their families and health professionals, all need accurate information about possible disease progression, factors affecting treatment decisions and the treatment options available. 3) Powers</p><p>In order to achieve its aim Hep B Positive may:</p><p> o Raise money</p><p> o Open bank accounts</p><p> o Acquire and run buildings</p><p> o Take out insurance</p><p> o Employ staff</p><p> o Organise courses and events</p><p> o Work with similar Groups and exchange information and advice with them</p><p> o Do anything that is lawful which will help it to fulfil its aim.</p><p>4) Membership. a) Membership of the Group shall be open to any individual over eighteen without regards to disability, political or religious affiliation, race, sex or sexual orientation who is:</p><p> o interested in helping the Group to achieve its aim</p><p> o willing to abide by the rules of the Group and</p><p> o willing to pay any subscription agreed by the Management Committee.</p><p> b) The membership of any member may be terminated for good reason by the Management Committee: Provided that the member concerned shall have the right to be heard by the Management Committee, accompanied by a friend, before a final decision is made. 5) Management.</p><p> o The Group shall be administered by a Management Committee of not less than three and not more than 10 individuals elected at the Group’s Annual General Meeting (A.G.M.).</p><p> o The Officers of the Management Committee shall be: the Chairperson, the Treasurer and the Secretary.</p><p> o The Management Committee may co-opt onto the Committee, up to three individuals, in an advisory and non-voting capacity that it feels will help to fulfil the aim of the Group.</p><p> o The Management Committee shall meet at least two times a year.</p><p> o At least three Management Committee members must be present for a Management Committee meeting to take place.</p><p> o Voting at Management Committee meetings shall be by a show of hands.
