<p> LESSON PLAN Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences Manchester College Teacher _Collin Grogan__ Date _Dec.2, 2010___ Time Period _12:55-1:20_ Students 14 Grade/Developmental Level 2-3/1 Lesson Focus _Skipping__ Teaching Style _command______</p><p>Academic Standard(s) Standard 1 Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical skills. Standard 2 Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. Standard 5 Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings. </p><p>Performance Objectives C TSWBAT correctly identify the steps to skipping when asked 100% of the time.</p><p>A TSWBAT stay out of others personal space 100% of the time. </p><p>P TSWBAT skip correctly by demonstrating a step-hop pattern when asked 4 of 5 times/attempts.</p><p>Equipment/Materials 10 cones</p><p>Skill Development Instant Activity- Instant Activity Station 1- Paddle Ball, Station 2- Throw and Catch, Station 3- Keep it up, Station 4- Rope Jumping, Station 5- Hoopla, Station 6- Switch-a-roo</p><p>Fitness Activity- students stretch leg muscles used in skipping -hamstrings-straight hangdown and touch toes -quadriceps-stand on one foot and pull foot to back side -calfs-jumps in place for 20 seconds -mountain climbers for 20 seconds</p><p>Introduction/Set Induction Today we will be skipping again just to make sure that everyone gets plenty of practice and understands how. Can I get a volunteer to show me how we are supposed to skip? Can anyone tell me the steps you take when you skip? </p><p>Guided Practice Activity -students practice skipping in general space -skip with exaggerated arm action and lifted knees -clap as you skip -clockwise and counterclockwise skipping -skip with a partner</p><p>Group Activity What time is it Mr. Fox? -teacher is on one side of the area with the students on a line on the opposing side -students ask “what time is it Mr. Fox?” teacher says “Its ___o’clock” students take that many skips towards Mr. Fox. -when Mr. Fox says “its dinner time” the kids run back to where they began as the teacher chases and tags students to be foxes Assessment (Form Attached)</p><p>Instructional Adjustments- No equipment to be changed. If a student has trouble understanding the cues they will be explained as the student and the teacher do the skill step by step. </p><p>Closure- Who can tell me how to skip?
