<p> Specifications for a Language Website</p><p>Technical Requirements</p><p> Must Allow for Localisation to Irish (at least) and possible other languages.  Must be tested in all browsers.  All informational text on the website to be editable.  Should be able to add more “boxes”.  Should adhere to security standards for GMIT.</p><p>Home page: </p><p>- “GMIT Language Centre” + GMIT logo (this to be a link to main gmit page)</p><p>Quote Generator - in place of the student quotes and What Staff Think Sections. - Show random quotes at intervals</p><p>- Welcome message (3 – 5 lines) (edit by Admin Section)</p><p>- 2 or 3 pictures (new pictures each time the page is loaded) edit. As is on current site.</p><p>- flags to change as well, similar to pictures</p><p>Section Requirements </p><p>- Language Resources at GMIT - What Graduates say - What Lecturers say - Why study a language at GMIT?</p><p>- About Us (scroll bar) - Mission (as current) - Message from the Director (allow for)</p><p>- News (drop down menu or scrolling box) - Language related news - Upcoming event - Recent highlights - photo gallery (facility to upload photos)</p><p>- Programmes (drop down menu to be categorised by language) - French - German etc… (Admin Section to add courses + descriptors + upload syllabi)</p><p>- Staff (similar to programmes) - French - name - name German etc…</p><p>(for each lecturer: Photo, name, room, email, telephone, Moodle link, classes. Similar to current page, but without lecture notes.)</p><p>Abroad page from current website is required. - (or create new interactive map)</p><p>- Links (drop down menu with sub menus to link to a separate page) - International Society (Club) - Test your level online - Learning resources - French - German etc… </p><p>NB:</p><p>- The Language website will be linked to the GMIT website – please ensure that GMIT security standards are met - liaise with GMIT Computer Services. </p><p>- The new website should be easy to update.
