<p> Office of Science Information Technology Modernization Plan</p><p>Instructions for Installing and Using the SC Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Client</p><p>1. The SC VDI is based on VMware’s View Horizon product. It requires your PIV card and PIN. SCSC must have provided you with a card reader for your home computer.</p><p>2. Connect your card reader to your computer and insert your PIV card in the card reader.</p><p>3. Navigate to the following URL from a computer that is not connected to the DOE network: https://desktop.science.energy.gov</p><p>4. The page may prompt you for a PIV card. At this point you can select cancel.</p><p>5. Select the icon on the left by single clicking the Install VMware Horizon View Client.</p><p>Page 1 of 9 WI-01 Version 1 Revision 0 4-23-2014 2</p><p>6. Select the Operating System of the computer you are installing the VMware Horizon View Client on.</p><p>7. In most cases you will be installing the VMware Horizon View Client on a Microsoft Windows PC. Select the VMware Horizon View Client for Windows.</p><p>8. Select the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the VMware Horizon View Client and click the Download button.</p><p>9. When prompted select the Save or Run option. This will either run the VMware Horizon View Client from the active session or save the file to a location on your pc. Office of Science Information Technology Modernization Plan</p><p>10. Select Yes to install VMware Horizon View Client when prompted. The VMware Horizon View Client Setup installer will now run. Select Next at this screen.</p><p>11. Accept the default values on the Custom Setup page and select Next.</p><p>13. Under the Default Server option, enter the following value: desktop.science.energy.gov and select Next. Office of Science Information Technology Modernization Plan</p><p>14. For the Enhanced Single Sign On page, accept the default values and select Next.</p><p>15. Click the Finish button once the client has finished it’s installation. Office of Science Information Technology Modernization Plan</p><p>18. Click “Yes” to restart your PC. Please ensure to save any work that you had been working on.</p><p>19. Double click the VMware Horizon View Client.</p><p>20. Some users will be presented with multiple desktop options. Select the one that best fits your needs.</p><p>23. You will be presented a desktop that has features that mimic you SC desktop PC.
