Curwood, PhD, RDN, Director, School Nutrition Programs, Sandy </p><p>DATE: March 7, 2017</p><p>SUBJECT: Visit Virginia Department of Education, Office of School Nutrition Program’s Booth at the Annual State Conference of the School Nutrition Association of Virginia</p><p>The 68th Annual School Nutrition Association of Virginia (SNA-VA) Annual State Conference will take place in Hampton, Virginia, March 17-19, 2017. Please be sure to visit the Virginia Department of Education, Office of School Nutrition Programs’ (VDOE SNP) booth on exhibit day, Saturday, March 18th. </p><p>The theme of the booth is Utilizing the Cafeteria as a Classroom. We will be showcasing many Virginia school divisions’ innovations and best practices as well as providing hands-on tools, templates, and “How To” resources to promote healthy school meals. Come by and provide a “bright idea” for the board and get your picture taken with Albert Einstein. In addition to a bounty of materials and resources, there will also be a raffle for the 6 foot salad bar that will be part of this year’s booth! Yes, one lucky attendee will win this 6 ft. salad bar for their school/school division’s school nutrition programs. </p><p>Terms for entering the raffle include the following:</p><p> Conference attendees must have prior approval of their school division’s school nutrition program director in order to win the salad bar.</p><p> Winner must submit an implementation plan for use of the salad bar by April 18, 2017. Use of the salad bar is for the National School Lunch Program at the winning school and can include use for the School Breakfast Program. Daily use of the salad bar is encouraged. Use of seasonal Virginia agricultural products is highly encouraged.</p><p> The salad bar must be in use at the winning school no later than October 1, 2017.</p><p> A possible media event sponsored by the Virginia Department of Education, Office of School Nutrition Programs, will take place at the school once the salad bar use is established.</p><p> WINNER MUST BE PRESENT AT THE 2 pm DRAWING (at the VDOE-SNP Conference Exhibit Booth), Saturday, March 18th!
