<p> POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Department of Entomology October 24, 2014</p><p>Position: Research Associate.</p><p>Location: Department of Entomology, Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS 66506-4004.</p><p>Appointment: 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), term, non-tenure track position. Annual renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.</p><p>Salary: $34,000 to $38,000/year (negotiable based on experience).</p><p>Starting Date: January 11, 2015</p><p>Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the research associate include the following: conduct research projects associated with horticultural insect and mite pests under laboratory, greenhouse, and field conditions; prepare progress reports; maintain insect rearing colonies in the laboratory and greenhouse; design and execute small and large scale laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments; collect data based on different sampling methods; engage in student supervision; and analyze and summarize data associated with research projects. </p><p>Qualifications: Required: Ph.D in Biological Control or Integrated Pest Management with a strong background in understanding whole organism biology and ecology of plants and insects. Maintain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator license (Kansas). Experience in calculating treatment rates, calibration, and maintenance of application equipment. Experience using enzyme-linked immunsorbent assays (ELISA) preferred.
