AP Macroeconomics

AP Macroeconomics uses an “islands” theme in which students act as an “economic advisor” to the leader of an island. The course is one segment. There are 61 lessons and 44 graded assignments. Because this is an AP course, teachers are expected to be AP trained and aware of the exam requirements prior to instruction. Answer keys will give some recommendations for grading, but much of what is expected relies on teacher knowledge of AP appropriate responses. Successful teachers often create supplemental activities and are involved with the instruction and test preparation for all students.

The design elements of the course are described below.

Feature Lesson Number and Description Interactivity Students use interactive graphs/diagrams to learn, introduce, or practice major concepts: 1.02, 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 2.01, 3,07, 4.01, 4.03, 5.02, 5.05, 6.03, 6.06, 6.08

Interactive graphs/diagrams with audio to aid students in learning major concepts: 1.04, 1.06, 1.07, 3.02, 3.04, 3.05, 3.07, 4.01, 4.04, 4.05, 5.02, 6.08

Family Feud Game: 1.03

Million Dollar Unemployment Quiz: 2.05

Bowling Game: 5.03

Matching Theories: 6.01

Crossword Puzzle: 6.05

Drag and Drop: 1.03, 1.06, 1.07, 2.02, 2.03, 2.04, 2.05, 3.01, 3.04, 3.07, 4.01

Slide manipulative where students create the graph being studied: 1.06, 1.07

Student slide a line to simulate the effects of a price ceiling or floor on quantity demanded and quantity supplied: 1.09

Students select a problem and roll over the boxes representing major players to see their interaction in the circular flow: 2.01

Page 1 of 3 Audio-visual piece where students click on images to hear information on trade barriers read by people representing different interests: 4.05

Students press a button to select myth or fact in an assessment of the Federal Reserve.
