<p>Class: Intro Unit: 1 Lesson: 4 Day: 1 Date: 9/16-9/17</p><p>Lesson Plan – Intro – 1.4.1 Objective</p><p>1B Learning Goal 5: Recognize and use the Spanish alphabet to spell Spanish words.</p><p>- SWBAT recognize and reproduce the Spanish alphabet, both orally and written.</p><p>Key Points</p><p>Recognize and use the Spanish alphabet - Explaining the reasons that the alphabet is the basic building block of any language (i.e. English alphabet) - Identify the Spanish alphabet: a, b, c, ch, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, ll, m, n, ñ, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, v, w, x, y, z - Recognize differences between the Spanish and English alphabets (ch, ll, ñ, rr) - Use the “ñ” tilde in the appropriate way. - Listen to and repeat the letters of the alphabet - Produce the Spanish alphabet, both orally and written</p><p>Summative Assessment</p><p>Daily Assessment</p><p>Opening (Time ______)</p><p>Materials:</p><p>Introduction to New Material (Time ______)</p><p>- Going to learn the basic building blocks of any language – the alphabet o Al abecedario o el alfabeto o Why is this important? How old were you when you learned the English ABC’s? . Because then you can talk, read, write, spell – all the basic foundational knowledge that you need to know to learn a language comes from the alphabet! - First thing – Vowels o What is a vowel? What are the English vowels? . A,E,I,O,U o What are the Spanish vowels? – Los vocales Class: Intro Unit: 1 Lesson: 4 Day: 1 Date: 9/16-9/17</p><p>. The same! But pronounced differently – have students repeat all of these after me  A – Ah, as in father  encantada, mal, manana  E- Ayy, as in hey menos, senor, presento  I- Eee, as in meet igualmente, adios, bien  O- Oh, as in woke hola, noches, cómo  U – oo, as in boot  usted, mucho, tú</p><p>-Now, let’s go through the rest of the alphabet, and write how each letter is pronounced - pass out the KIPP big alphabet worksheet – students will fill in as we go along – have it on an overhead!</p><p>- once the class has gone through the alphabet and written the names of the letters down, then play the Realidades 1 - p. 12, el alfabeto – soundtrack o have Ss repeat the letters after the audio o * note that Che and elle are not included</p><p>Materials:</p><p>- alphabet worksheet on overhead - KIPP alphabet for Ss to follow along with – copies - Realidades audio file – p. 12, el alfabeto Guided Practice (Time ______)</p><p>- Listen to the song on Youtube – Barbara Macarthur’s Military Style ABC’s o Students need to follow along a few times, then sing it the last couple times . Sing and repeat – do it a bunch of times until students are all singing along! o Remind them of how important it is to learn things by song/rhythms . Who learned their abc’s in English through a song? Everyone!</p><p>Materials: - alphabet sheet - youtube clip on LCD - Independent Practice (Time ______)</p><p>- worksheet with the sounds of the letters – I created it - Span 1 IP – 1.4.1</p><p>Materials: - printed copies of Span 1 IP 1.4.1 Class: Intro Unit: 1 Lesson: 4 Day: 1 Date: 9/16-9/17</p><p>Closing (Time ______)</p><p>-review the alphabet one more time Everyone say one letter?</p><p>Materials: </p><p>Homework</p><p>- practice the alphabet! - Finish the IP worksheet from class - Homework: o Finish the IP worksheet o Write out the Spanish alphabet 2x! o Practice writing all of the letters . Say them as you write it . Want to see it written out twice! Just like we did on the paper</p>
