<p> Rancho Santiago Community College District Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education ESL Civics Course Overview</p><p>Instructor: Class Information: ESL Civics, Site__, Room__, Days__, Time__ Section Number: Term: Fall 2013 Holidays: </p><p>Course Description: Provides development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing English within the context of history and government in preparation for the United States Citizenship examination. Recommended for students in Beginning ESL 3 and above. Open entry/Open exit.</p><p>Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs): Upon completion of this course, students will be able to . demonstrate sufficient oral English language skills in preparation for the USCIS citizenship interview . demonstrate sufficient knowledge of US History and Civics in preparation for the USCIS citizenship interview.</p><p>Assessments/Lessons/Homework Assignments: Students take assessments as provided by the instructor. Classroom lessons/materials focus on the following life skills categories: basic communication, consumer economics, community resources, health and safety, occupational knowledge, and government and law. Homework assignments may be required.</p><p>Attendance Requirements: Students who do not attend the first class meeting, or are absent for five day classes or four evening classes within a 2-week period without the instructor’s approval may be dropped. </p><p>Textbooks/Materials: </p><p>Accommodations for Disabilities: Students with disabilities, who would like to request academic accommodations, are responsible for identifying themselves to their instructors and to the Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS) office.
