<p>Dear Parents and Guardians, </p><p>Welcome to a new school year! This time of year is so exciting for both students and teachers. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and let you know a little more about our class.</p><p>I am so proud to be a teacher at Sycolin Creek Elementary! I have spent the past four years teaching second grade in Roanoke City. Last year, I was lucky enough to have taught first grade here at Sycolin Creek. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Radford University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Hollins University. I am excited to join this community and I am greatly looking forward to another great year teaching first grade.</p><p>First grade is a very exciting time for your child, filled with important transitions and new skills to learn. Your child’s day will be filled with fun learning opportunities while reading, writing, and solving mathematical problems. Each week, students will participate in PE, music, art, library, and computer lab sessions.</p><p>I have high expectations for all of my students and know that with your support we will have a wonderful year of learning and growing together. It is important to me to establish a safe and caring classroom environment where all students can feel comfortable and grow as individuals and learners. </p><p>I would like to invite you to our annual Back-to-School Night for parents of students in grades 1-3 that will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, August 25th. This evening will allow you to meet me, visit the classroom, and learn more about what we will be doing this year. Students are invited to attend our Open House on Friday, August 26th from 10:00 am-11:00 am to meet me and see their first grade classroom. </p><p>I look forward to meeting you and getting to know your child.
