In particular, the team is focusing on issues like climate change, animal welfare, supporting viable livelihoods through sustainable wildlife strategies, etc… We work with zoos and aquariums across the USA to help them become more effective conservation advocates. We also work with environmental education and conservation organizations or colleges including the North American Association for Environmental Education, The Nature Conservancy, the Wildlife Conservation Society and others. Requirements and Benefits for Student Essential and Desirable Background Knowledge and Skills Essential: Open-mindedness and respect for diverse cultural and ethical perspectives. Strong data analysis skills and an interest in learning mixed-methods research. Strong writing skills and willingness to work in an office with dogs. We seek interns who have completed a minimum one full semester. </p><p>Desirable: Prior experience with data collection, transcription or literature review production are all assets. Third semester students are highly encouraged to apply for an internship.</p><p>Expected Responsibilities Interns in our organization normally contribute to library research, literature reviews or development of an annotated bibliography, participate in data analysis, report writing or data collection in the NYC or CA area pending work location. Interns are considered part of the team and are actively invited to join meetings, to learn about all of our work, and to participate in any project work. Interns are expected to work a minimum 16 hours during the work week, but the schedule can be flexible to suit other work and school demands. Office hours are 9:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday – Friday.</p><p>Expected Benefits Students gain a great deal of skill in applied research, often contributing to advancement of their area of study and learning principles of conservation psychology and biology alongside experts in the field.
