<p> Glencoe High School Class of 2016</p><p>Application/Code of Conduct for Graduation And Senior Activities</p><p>Commencement exercises for eligible seniors are provided by Glencoe High School.</p><p>The school expects graduation to be a dignified ceremony recognizing the culmination of 13 years of effort by students, parents, and teachers. We are very proud of this accomplishment. Students who wish to participate in such a ceremony will be expected to follow the instructions given in the practice sessions and to behave in a manner appropriate for the occasion. </p><p>Inappropriate behaviors/items include (but are not limited to): . Yelling or whistling . Distracting activities, i.e., chewing gum, talking during the ceremony . Air horns, noisemakers . Items in the hand to be passed to board member/administrator . Unapproved/unearned additions to the graduation attire, i.e., pins, cords, stoles . Activities prohibited by the ECBOE & GHS Student Discipline code (including use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs, dress code, piercings, hair color etc.) . **Cell phones should be set to “SILENT” mode</p><p>Students who do not follow these expectations will be asked to leave or will be escorted from the area, and their diplomas will be pulled.</p><p>Senior Activities: **Caps & Gowns should be picked up by May 6th in the GHS office from Mrs Gray. The cost is $50 if not prepaid (cash, check or money order to Balfour).</p><p>1. Senior Awards Program at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16th. This is the day that scholarships will be presented. Please inform Mrs. Howard of any scholarships that you may be receiving so that she may contact the proper individual. Bring your cap and gown for the senior group picture that will be made that morning after the Class Day program. You will need to bring $12.00 if you want to order a group picture. Make your check payable to Bill Miller. Boys wear dress slacks, dress shirts, and a tie. Girls wear a dress. Anyone dressed in jeans will not be allowed to participate. Tennis shoes are not acceptable. The senior picnic will be after the program. This is for Glencoe High seniors and their parents only.</p><p>2. A Baccalaureate Service will be held at First Baptist Church of Glencoe on Sunday evening, May 22nd, beginning at 6:00 p.m. This one hour service will be conducted by your classmates. You will wear your cap and gowns and will be seated together as the Class of 2016. *You will need to be at the church by 5:30 . </p><p>3. Graduation Practice: All seniors are required to attend Graduation Practice on Thursday, May 26th, 2016, at 8:30 a.m. in the Wallace Hall. Failure to participate in graduation practice will be considered an indication that you do not wish to participate in the graduation ceremony. You have worked 13 years for this special day—please be there! Before graduation practice begins, each senior will be given: . your final GHS report card!!!! . a sign-up sheet for you to list the college to which your final transcript should be sent. . Old school records from your permanent records file: properly file or destroy them if you do not want to keep them. 4. Graduation: Thursday, May 26th, 6:00 p.m at Gadsden State in Wallace Hall. You will need to be dressed (cap, gown, honor cords) and in the side hallway by 5:15 at the latest. Please make plans to make pictures and meet with family prior to 5:15. Only graduates should remain in the hallway after 5:15. Seating for Graduation will be on a first come, first served basis.</p><p>Dress Code You must be dressed appropriately in order to participate in Awards Day, Baccalaureate, and Graduation Ceremonies according to the ECBOE & GHS Student Code of Conduct</p><p>Girls: . Dress or skirt. o Solid colors are best or make sure patterns do not show through your gown. o Gown hem should hit at mid calf. Be sure hem line of dress or skirt does not hang down and show below gown hem. If dress hem is longer than gown, the dress must be black. o If hose are worn, they should match your skin tone. . No high collars. You should not see anything except the gown. . Dress shoes should be worn. Be careful about heel height. You will be walking up stairs, across the stage, down stairs. (NO flip-flops or athletic shoes) . No embellishment should be added to caps, gowns, stoles, cords, etc. Boys: . White shirt (long or short sleeves). . Dark-colored tie (black or navy) . Dark long dress pants (black or navy) . Dark dress shoes (NO flip-flops or athletic shoes). . No embellishment should be added to caps, gowns, stoles, cords, etc. Caps . These should be worn straight and level and not on the back of the head. The tassel of the cap should be worn hanging on the right; it will be moved to the left after you receive your diplomas.</p><p>GUESTS: Please share this information with your guests who plan to attend the ceremony: Please help to make this event special by dressing appropriately (Sunday best). The following items would be inappropriate: shorts/excessively short skirts, cut-offs, halter/brief tops, flip-flops, tank-tops, etc. We must insist on an atmosphere of dignity. </p><p>*** Please let your parents know: 1) There are plans to make a DVD of the Baccalaureate and Graduation ceremonies by Lynn Chappel. She will have a table set up for payment in the lobby of Wallace Hall on the day of graduation 2) Bill Miller Photography will be making pictures of you receiving your diploma at Graduation. Pre-order envelopes will be given out at graduation practice. </p><p>**A calendar with important dates for the months of April/May 2016 is attached for your reference.
