<p> Minneapolis South High School Music Department Class Piano Course Syllabus</p><p>Lorie Hippen, Instructor 612-668-4341 [email protected]</p><p>Course Content This course is designed for any student who wishes to begin to learn or further develop his or her piano skills. Students will learn to play piano by progressing at their own pace through the “John Thompson Piano Course” books. The teacher will listen to each student several times during the week, offering individual assistance, demonstration and sometimes a group “mini-lesson”. At the end of each week, the students will play what they have been working on for the class in a short recital.</p><p>Required Materials  A set of headphones for daily use in the piano lab.  Method book sheets will be provided, but other music of the student’s choice may be brought in.</p><p>Grading Procedures  Attendance and punctuality to class  Progress each week and personal musical growth</p><p>Class Expectations  Students must be present in class and on time.  Headphones are to be brought to class each day.  Students demonstrate a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.  School policies are followed in regard to hats and appropriate attire.</p><p>For additional information, please refer to the Music Department Policy that is available on the web site: http://south.mpls.k12.mn.us/Music.html</p>
