Compton Claimed the Monahans Midweek Cricket League Division 1 Championship in a Tight

<p>Compton claimed the Monahans Midweek Cricket League Division 1 Championship in a tight race with Nalgo, Compton only securing the title on net run rate. H Cummings of Wootton Bassett recorded the highest individual batting score in the Division, and the League, with 143 in week 6’s high scoring game against White Horse. A Raza of Nalgo recorded the Division 1, as well as the League’s, best bowling figures with 7 for 17 from 4 overs in the game in week 4 against, the now defunct, KC Club. Nationwide and Wanborough struggled during the course of the season and ended up the bottom two clubs in Division 1.</p><p>Lawn are champions of Division 2, winning 10 of their 14 games. Second spot was tightly fought, Wroughton Wranglers securing this position on net run rate. The Wootton Bassett club also claimed the best individual batting score in Division 2, J Smith Snr scoring 100 for Wootton Basset B in week 6 against Intel. J Dunn of Purton A claimed the best bowling figures in the Division, with 4 overs for 6 wickets conceding 17 runs in the game in week 10 against Intel. Haydon Wick and Intel produced battling performance during the course of the season but were unable to escape finishing in the bottom two. </p><p>In Division 3 Motorola finished first which was due reward for their strength over the course of the season. Wroughton Wranglers 2 finished runners up, a fine effort. D Bott of Anchor recorded the best individual batting performance in the Division with a tremendous 135 not out against the Division winners, Motorola, in week 12. Ken White of Monahans recorded the best individual bowling performance taking 6 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs against The Dolphin in week 3. In a very competitive Division Anchor and Ashbury were the unlucky two clubs at the bottom of the Division.</p><p>In Division 4 Gamcom topped the Division with Purton B finishing strongly in second. M Bauer recorded the best batting score of the season in the Division with 84 for Purton B against Gamcom in week 8. M Francis, Purton B’s captain, posted the best bowling figures taking 6 wickets for 14 runs from just 2.3 overs, in the game in the game in week 12 versus The Manor. The Manor finished bottom in their first season, again, in a close Division, a position, which no doubt, they will build and push on from next year.</p>
