Curtis Aquatic Center Swim Lesson Information Packet

Welcome to the Curtis Aquatic Center!!! As a new family in our lesson program, we understand you might have a lot of questions. Hopefully this packet will answer them. We here at the Curtis Aquatic Center, pride ourselves on making sure this is not only a program for learning how to swim, but also the ability to enjoy a fun experience while learning the importance of safety and technique that can be applied around any body of water! Each day our instructing staff prides themselves on teaching all swimmers new and exciting skills as well as discussing in important safety rules that can be applied around all bodies of water.

First Day: On the first day of the swim lesson session, all your child will need is a swimsuit and a towel. Goggles are allowed in levels 3-10. Levels 1 & 2-goggles are prohibited. We want your child to become as comfortable in the water as possible; a swimmers ability to not completely rely on goggles will help with this process. When you enter the Aquatic Center, make sure your child gets dressed in their suit and bring them on deck, near the locker room entrances. At the start of their lesson time, we will call all of the kids out from the locker rooms, line them up, and start calling them forward based on their levels. This is when they will be introduced to their instructors and shown where their levels are. Family/friends of the swimmers must sit in the upstairs bleachers. Once the lesson is over, you may come down and pick up your child near the diving boards. From there, you may enter the locker room and get dressed.

Following Days: After the first day, your child knows where their classes are located (if they need help, you may help them). Again, after their lesson, you may meet them on deck by the diving boards and get them dressed.

Second to Last Day: Your child will be tested on the skills they have learned throughout the session.

Last Day: On the last day of the session, they will join their class like normal. This day will still be full of the necessary skills that they have learned, however towards the end of the half hour all levels will

1 set aside a certain amount of time dedicated to fun swimming activities and games. Levels 5-10 also get to enjoy the exciting experience of jumping or diving off the diving boards! After blast off, each swimmer will receive an individual “report card” notifying both them and you whether or not they will be moving up to the next level, and why. Interested in registration for the next session of swimming lessons? You are now eligible to register your child on the Pre-Registration date for the following session. Pre-Registration is often the Wednesday following the last day of the current session. Levels 1-3 must still register in person at the Curtis Aquatic Center. Swimmers in Levels 4-10 can register online but only on the pre-registration date and time. Dates and times will be posted at the Curtis Aquatic Center or online on our website.

In Order To Pass This Level, Swimmer Must Be Able To…

Level 1- 1. 5 CONTINUOUS BOBS HOLDING ON TO EDGE - OBSERVE BUBBLES AND EYE BLINKING

2.
