<p> PERSON SPECIFICATION</p><p>Post: Head of Sport</p><p>Job Family/ LDR 2A Grade/Level:</p><p>CULTURE AND SPORT GLASGOW IS A COMPETENCY FRAMEWORK EMPLOYER</p><p>Summary of Glasgow Life develops, delivers and manages sport, leisure and cultural services on behalf of Role the City of Glasgow.</p><p>The Head of Sport leads Glasgow Sport business and operations: setting and managing the delivery of business performance targets, and promoting and delivering sports and recreational facilities, programmes, development and events. Responsibilities include:</p><p> Driving and extending the commercial focus of Glasgow Sport</p><p> Leadership, management and direction of operations for sports, leisure and recreation facilities and services. Accountable for setting performance targets and holding managers to account in respect of the performance of all aspects of the business including budgets, staff, membership systems and processes, customer care and resources - to ensure services are provided cost effectively and efficiently.</p><p> Leadership, management and direction of operations for sport and physical activity development and services. Accountable for social and business performance including delivery on performance targets, budgets, staff and resources to ensure services are provided cost effectively and efficiently.</p><p> Driving improvement projects, aimed at business improvement and streamlining, while ensuring quality and excellence. Supporting staff to tackle complex problems that affect the sector and work to resolve them with innovative solutions.</p><p> Contribute to the social, economic and recreation of the City through operations management, development and implementation of the Councils Policies and Objectives.</p><p> Oversee, lead and manage the planning, delivery and co-ordination of Glasgow Life sports and recreation facilities programme for all major sporting events.</p><p> Business analysis, performance measurement and partnership across Glasgow Life to develop new operating opportunities for excellence and continuous improvement.</p><p> Work within Glasgow Life’s leadership group and collaborate with other multi disciplinary teams in the delivery of community engagement, providing a framework for performance management across the service based upon its strategic outcomes.</p><p> Work with drive, passion and energy to promote the vision and values of Glasgow Life.</p><p>RECRUIT # 1</p><p>PERSON SPECIFICATION</p><p>CRITERIA ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE EVIDENCE</p><p>Education, Degree or equivalent Application Form Qualifications Certificates & Training</p><p>Skills, Significant experience of leading Knowledge of project Application Form Knowledge & operational teams at a senior level within a management References Competencies similar environment. methodology e.g. PRINCE 2 Interview Possess excellent commercial acumen and business judgment with ability to step back and look at long term vision for growth. Ability to adapt to internal and external Demonstrate a strong track record of change problem solving and solid analytical skill capability to look at and find solutions for a variety of operational challenges.</p><p>Significant experience of leading/managing professional, operational and technical staff.</p><p>Experience of setting performance targets, ensuring that these are met and delivering financial management, and performance reporting at a senior level.</p><p>Ability to communicate persuasively and influence at a Board level.</p><p>Experience leading and managing professional, operational and technical staff.</p><p>Experience of change management and leadership of this.
