What is biotechnology 2. How does it affect different fields ex food industry, crops, medical field 3. How is it used around the world 4. Differing and controversial views on the topic of biotechnology </p><p>Outline of Lectures/Discussions: </p><p>There will be a formal powerpoint presentation on the topic of biotechnologies</p><p>Will have powerpoint from lecture book it will cover</p><p>1. what is biotechnology 2. examples of different biotechnology used for years 3. new advancements in biotechnology 4. views on the use of biotechnology</p><p>Listing of Resources Used to Support the Module (readings, videos, podcasts, documentaries, etc.):</p><p>Lecture book- go over topics of biotechnology- Biology: Guide to Natural World</p><p>Journal articles- to go over any new advancements in biotechnology</p><p>Description of the Assignments Used to Facilitate an Understanding of the Module Objectives (writings, interviews, reflections, experiential projects or field work):</p><p>I formal powerpoint presentation will be given to them </p><p>Evaluation/Testing Used to Assess the Comprehension of the Module:</p><p>Each group will chose a region of the world and research the use of stem cells and stem cell research in that region. They will find out any policies and or restrictions on this biotechnology in that region. Then explain why these policies and restrictions are in play. They will write a paper and then there will be an in class discussion about the topic</p><p>Resources (Bibliography) used to Develop/implement the Module:</p><p>Lecture book- Biology: Guide to Natural World</p>
