(SBC ASI) is announcing the implementation of a customer notification process for planned and unplanned network maintenance performed on our Central Office-based DSLAM networks. This customer notification will go out to CLEC’s who resell SBC ASI DSL transport.

Two types of notifications will be provided:

1. Planned Maintenance Activity – This notification will be delivered when SBC ASI knows which impacted equipment/site in the Central Office-based DSLAM networks will undergo maintenance. SBC ASI will generate an email notification to include the identification of each Central Office DSLAM that is affected. Should the maintenance need to be rescheduled, SBC ASI will generate a "Rescheduled" email notification with a new scheduled date. If the maintenance is canceled, SBC ASI will generate a "Cancellation" email notification.

2. Unplanned Maintenance Activity – This notification will be delivered to communicate sudden and unpredicted maintenance or repair required by SBC ASI. Most unplanned maintenance is due to an ATM/DSL network failure. If an unplanned condition occurs, SBC ASI will generate an email notification consistent with that of the "planned" notices explained above. Status will be posted on the Service Interruption Report located on SBC Central.

The notification process explained above will replace the current "outage" notifications received today. Any CLEC who would like to be added to distribution should contact their SBC Account Team / Manager. All notifications will be delivered via email and each CLEC may have up to three email addresses registered with SBC ASI.

Any questions regarding the delivery of these notifications should be reported to your SBC Account Team contact.
