Fancy dress Trail is scored by points being awarded from zero to ten per obstacle. Hunter ( classes 39,40 )</p><p>Hunter classes are designed to show a horse’s style, way of going and manners over jumps that would traditionally be found in the hunting field.  Style – horse to meet the fence swuarely, maintain a rhythm and jump at the centre of the fence.  Way of going – horse to cover the course at an even pace with free flowing strides at a brisk trot or canter. Penalties will be incurred for any change of gait on the course.  Manners – bad manners will incur penalties: rearing, bucking, spooking, shying.</p><p>Six Bar ( Class 41 ) In this event six identical obstacles are placed in a straight line 12 – 16 feet apart. If sufficient space or equipment is available then instead of the Six Bar a Lightening Five ( 5 identical obstacles) may be used. After the first round of jumping, only those exhibits without faults can participate in the next round. However, if there is no clear round, those exhibits with the lowest number of faults can compete. There shall be a maximum of four rounds of jumping in a competition. After each round the height of each jump is increased until a winner is determined. Equipment:  Preferably the horse should be in a headstall which sits flat against the horse’s nose.  Rope halters are allowed provided there are no knots on the noseband or elsewhere designed to exert pressure on the sensitive areas of the horse’s face. The lead may be flat or rounded and should attach directly to the head collar under the chin with a swivel clip or similar.  The lead must be no shorter than 8 feet.  The use of chains and bits is prohibited as are any objects which are designed to apply pressure to the horse’s face.  Exhibitors footwear must be enclosed ( i.e. no thongs or sandals). Exclusions: Horses under 3 yrs of age are not eligible to compete.</p><p>Fault and Out ( Class 42 ). There is only one jump. After the first round only those horses with a clear round can participate in the next round. If there is no clear round, all exhibitors may continue. The height of the jump will increase by 2 inches each round. Judging and scoring: Automatic Disqualification:  Two refusals  Falling of horse or handler  Handler jumping obstacle with horse  Horse running free from handler  Pulling or dragging a horse over</p><p>Horses are scored with each of the following incurring 4 fault points: Knock down, refusals, run outs and broken tack. Harness ( classes 31,32,33,34,35,36 )</p><p> Horses must be sound  Correctly fitting breeching is compulsory in all classes except where ‘Tilbury’ or ‘ french’ tugs  An appropriate whip shall be carried at all times, the maximum length of which can reach the horse’s shoulder.  Running martingales and overchecks are not permitted.  Accepted driving bits are compulsory for all classes.  Blinkers are compulsory for all classes.  Boots or wraps and earplugs are prohibited.  Change of vehicle for same classes in same division is prohibited.</p><p>Safety driving Rules</p><p> All competitors in Harness driving should have safety foremost in their minds.  A horse must never be left unattended whilst hitched or being put to a vehicle.  Competent adult co-drivers are recommended for all Youth Competitors.  No Youth Driver may drive a stallion.</p><p>Judging:  In turnout classes the horse, vehicle, harness and general appearance.  Horse and ponies are judged according to the way they perform at different paces in their individual classes.</p>
