<p> BIOINFORMATICS MODULES - OVERVIEW</p><p>Two bioinformatics modules are described: </p><p>MODULE 1 is used as the first exercise for GENE TAG CONSTRUCTION</p><p>MODULE 2 is used as the first exercise for GENE KNOCKOUT CONSTRUCTION</p><p>One may take parts from either module to customize their own exercise. By the end of each module students will have designed the appropriate primers to proceed with the cloning modules.</p><p>Two other bioinformatics exercises are provided by Doug Chalker (‘DC Bioinformatics I and II’). These include an exercise using the Ciliate Ortholog Database to more closely examine orthologous proteins (see DC Bioinformatics I, part B). One makes extensive and excellent of Gene Construction Kit, a commercial cloning software that institutions may purchase (see DC Bioinformatics II).</p>
