ASHA CE Provider approval does not imply endorsement of course content, specific products, or clinical procedures. </p><p>Workshop Schedule 8:45 AM to 4:30 PM (6.0 Maryland CEUs, .6 ASHA CEUS)</p><p>This hands-on therapy-rich presentation will focus on strategies that facilitiate verbal communication for children with apraxia of speech and speech sound disorders. An overview of evaluation considerations and how they relate to therapy decision-making will be presented. Most of the presentation will be intervention- based, with a range of therapy ideas. Course Objectives and Learner Outcomes: Participants will be able to list three effective multi-sensory therapy strategies for children with CAS and severe speech sound disorders; participants will describe three critical factors in early target selection; participants will outline three therapy activities for repetitive practice; and participants will describe how to enhance parent involvement and home carryover.</p><p>David Hammer is a Director of Professional Development for CASANA. Dave has 35 years of pediatric clinical experience at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh with specialty expertise in childhood apraxia of speech and speech sound disorders. He has provided in-depth consultation, evaluation and successful treatment for hundreds of children with this challenging speech disorder.
