SAM M. GREER, LONG-TIME EDUCATION ADVOCATE AND COMMUNITY SERVANT, OF ROCK HILL, WHO DIED TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 1997.</p><p>Whereas, Dr. Sam M. Greer of Rock Hill died Tuesday, January 7, 1997; and</p><p>Whereas, Dr. Greer, a native of Moravian Falls, North Carolina, was the son of Bernice Pardue Greer and the late Samuel Maurice Greer; and</p><p>Whereas, Dr. Greer is survived by his wife, Ruth L. Greer, a former principal of Sullivan Middle School and St. Anne Catholic School, and their son, Samuel Greer of Rock Hill; and</p><p>Whereas, Dr. Greer was professor emeritus at Winthrop University and a retired director of vocational education, having received both the Bachelor of Science and Masters degrees in business and junior college administration from Appalachian State University and the Ed.D. in educational administration from the University of South Carolina; and</p><p>Whereas, Dr. Greer further served as an advocate of education in this State by serving as a member of the Rock Hill School Board, as Chairman of the State Board of Education, as state supervisor of business education occupations, and as chief supervisor of ancillary services with the State Department of Education; and</p><p>[3283-3 ] Whereas, Dr. Greer served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and served his community as an active member of the Rock Hill Area Chamber of Commerce, the Rock Hill United Way, the Rock Hill Lions Club, and the Empowering the Community Educational City Theme Group. Now, therefore,</p><p>Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:</p><p>That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends and admirers of Dr. Sam M. Greer, long-time educator, education advocate, and dedicated community servant, who died Tuesday, January 7, 1997.</p><p>Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Dr. Sam M.
