<p> Created Date (Position Title)</p><p>Diversified Community Services Job Description</p><p>Title: Teacher II</p><p>Job Classification: Non Exempt</p><p>Location: Western Learning Center Supervisor: Center Director</p><p>Requirements: Two years of experience of teaching young children of which 1 year at an accredited program Education: Completion of an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university with a BS in early childhood Travel: Approximately 0% Position Overview: The teacher is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of his/her assigned classroom and the supervision of children and support persons. There will be occasions when the application of duties for this position will extend beyond the normal physical structure of the center. There will be times that some lifting of objects and children maybe necessary. This position requires the person to perform written documentation of activities, incidents/accidents, conversations with parents and children’s behaviors/interactions.</p><p>Key Responsibilities:  The teacher cares for the children in his/her assigned group in order to meet their physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs. Most of the time, the teacher works in the indoor classroom. The teacher will care for the children while on trips and neighborhood outings.</p><p> The teacher is responsible for the daily operation and management of the classroom, as well as the supervision of assigned staff persons and volunteers, writing of lessons plans and assessments of children and the completion of reports in accordance to predetermined schedules.</p><p> The teacher must insure the maintaining of standards in accordance to the guidelines set forth by the Department of Human Services, Department of Public Welfare, the Children Care Resources and any other governing bodies.</p><p> Provides the children with routine interaction that promote the well-being (comfort, health and safety) of the children as prescribed by the agency and center’s written and oral policies and practices.</p><p> Develops and implements an action plan that addresses a specific developmental need of a child after having made an assessment of the child’s developmental growth. Implementation of an IEP/IPP written by a support service of the child maybe required. Created Date (Position Title)  Actively involved with the children in order to provide guidance as they learn and process information.</p><p> Encourage the children to engage in emergent activities that will enable them to develop and enhance their fine and gross motor skills, cognitive skills, language skills and social skills.</p><p> Coordinate classroom trips with the program director.</p><p> The selection of weekly themes are to be reflected in the planning of the lesson plans, providing activities that meet the developmental needs of the children either individually and/or collectively.</p><p> Provide activities that allow choices and stimulates their creativeness.</p><p> Keeps the classroom clean, neat, safe and inviting.</p><p> Communicate with parents, children, co-workers and community persons in a cordial and professional manner.</p><p> When applicable, make home visits with parents.</p><p> Provide routine information to parents concerning their children (accidents, activities, problematic concerns and health issues). Discuss unusual/severe concerns/problems with the program director.</p><p> Participate in interdisciplinary meetings in order to discuss concerns about a child’s developmental growth and to develop a prescriptive plan.</p><p> At semi-annual parent-teacher conferences, information will be exchanged in reference to the child’s progress.</p><p> Maintain separate anecdotal records in each child’s folder along with their L.A.P., IPP/IEP and any other pertinent information. Long and short range goals and their objectives are to be written for each child when assessing their growth.</p><p> The children are to be assessed twice a year in accordance to policy and procedure. An IPP/IEP will be written when a child give indicators that there are developmental lags when assessed with the LAP tool.</p><p> Evaluate the degree to which daily activities were received by the children and the level of comfort exhibited by staff persons during implementation of activities. Note the observations in order to assess the effectiveness of the activities either by recording them in a log book and/or in the child’s anecdotal files. Make the necessary adjustments to future lesson planning based on these results.</p><p> Evaluations of assigned staff person(s) and volunteers are required.</p><p> Map out a schedule for distribution of the classroom duties and schedule for breaks.</p><p> Provide resources to aid the development of professional growth for those persons assigned to your classroom.</p><p> Reinforced in-service training by reiterating agency and center policies and practices. Other related skills: The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and with outside vendors and legal counsel is essential. This position also requires a solid, self-directed individual who can excel both independently and as a team player in a fast- paced, entrepreneurial environment.
