<p>ST BRENDAN’S SIXTH FORM COLLEGE - AS TEXTILES SUMMER PROJECT</p><p>In preparation for starting your AS Textiles course in September we would like you to complete a summer project. This work must be completed and brought with you to your first day at St Brendan’s in September. </p><p>For this project we would like you to research the work of the fashion or interior designer highlighted on the second page. You then need to create an A3 mood board and write a 300 word piece about the designer and how they have influenced your mood board. </p><p>Your mood board should include the following,</p><p> One image of a garment or design by your allocated designer- good quality colour image.</p><p> A textiles sample inspired by the designer’s work – hand or machine stitch, applique, block print etc.</p><p> Some mark making – using inks, paint and pencils.</p><p> Theme words</p><p> The name of the designer</p><p> Cut out images from magazines</p><p> Fabric swatches </p><p>Your 300 word written piece should cover the following,</p><p> The name of the designer</p><p> The collection from which your piece was taken</p><p> The main inspiration for the collection</p><p> How the work has inspired your mood board. Discuss colours, textures, motifs and atmosphere. </p><p>DO - Think carefully about the layout of your board. Lay everything out and play around with the composition before sticking down.</p><p>DO - Get sample fabrics from fabric shops, old clothes, charity shops </p><p>DO - Always use good quality printouts from the internet. You can get your images printed out at a photo centre if you don’t have a good printer. </p><p>DON’T -decorate your mood board with unnecessary trimmings that are not linked to your theme, such as lace, bows, ribbons, sequins, glitter. DON’T - over clutter your page.
