Textbook and scientific calculator. Material: Class room and with blackboard and projection display facilities, library and Facilities: computational facilities. Course Objectives: This is the only course of electrical Machines that is provided by department of electrical Engineering for Mechanical and Mechatronics students. It is designed to achieve the following objectives: • Understand the basic concepts of electromagnetic electromechanical conversion and their devices, including power transformers, DC Generators and Motors, and 3-phase machines.</p><p>Course Learning Outcomes and Relation to ABET Student Outcomes:</p><p>Upon successful completion of this course, a student should be able to: 1. Understand the basic concept of electromagnetic electromechanical conversion. [a,e,k] 2. Familiar with power transformer operation and performance characteristics. [a,e,k] 3. Familiar with the connections and groups of 3-phase transforms. [a,e,k] 4. Know the basic relationships and characteristics of DC Generators and Motors. [a,e] 5. Familiar with the basic methods of starting and speed control of DC motors. [e] 6. Understand the concept of rotating field in 3-phase machines. [a,e,k] 7. Understanding characteristics & control of synchronous generators. [a,e]</p><p>Course Topics: Topic Description Hrs 1.
