Harris announced the arrest of Kariem Moore, 43 of Spotsylvania, VA- charging him with 3 counts of Abduction by Force and 1 count of Felony Assault and Battery. Kariem is currently being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail. </p><p>On 07/29/17 at approximately 5:00pm, Deputies were dispatched to the 3600 block of Mine Rd. in reference to a request to check the welfare of the family located at the premises. Upon arrival the Deputies encountered Mr. Moore and began to speak to him on the front lawn of the residence. Mr. Moore became evasive when advised that they were there to check on the family. While speaking to Mr. Moore the Deputies observed a female and 2 children run out of a side door and away from the home. The Deputies immediately detained Mr. Moore and escorted the woman and children to safety. </p><p>Detectives responded to the scene to assist the Deputies with the investigation. It was discovered that the 32 year old female was the girlfriend of Mr. Moore and the children age 8 and 11 were their common children. The investigation revealed that the woman and children had been held against their will at the residence for more than 2 years. The investigation into the nature of the confinement is ongoing and further charges may be pending. The children were examined at a local Medical facility and turned over to family members. Their mother is currently receiving in patient treatment at a medical facility. </p><p>Sheriff Harris stated that this case is a reminder to all citizens to be vigilant and report any activity that you think is suspicious or simply out of the ordinary.
