<p>((Specifier leave this line)) SBBC Design & Material Standards, January 01, 2010 Edition)</p><p>SECTION 08305 (08 31 00)</p><p>ACCESS DOORS AND PANELS</p><p>PART 1 GENERAL</p><p>1.1 SECTION INCLUDES</p><p>A. Access doors and frames for walls and ceilings.</p><p>1.2 REFERENCES</p><p>A. Florida Building Code (FBC).</p><p>B. International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14021–1999; Environmental Labels and Declarations.</p><p>C. Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL) Fire Resistance Directory.</p><p>1.3 SUBMITTALS</p><p>A. Product Data: Provide sizes, types, finishes, hardware, scheduled locations, and details of adjoining work. 1. Recycled Content: (a) Indicate recycled content; indicate percentage of pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled content per unit of product. (b) Indicate relative dollar value of recycled content product to total dollar value of product included in project. (c) If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate the percentage of recycled content product in the assembly by weight. (d) If recycled content product is part of an assembly, indicate relative dollar value of recycled content product to total dollar value of assembly.</p><p>B. Manufacturer’s Installation Instructions: Indicate installation requirements. 1. Samples: Provide 4 samples, 3 inches x 5 inches minimum size, of each panel face material showing factory finished color and texture.</p><p>1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE</p><p>A. Manufacture fire rated access doors and frames to conform to UL requirements.</p><p>B. Doors, panels and frames located in an exterior wall shall be rated for the design pressures shown on the Contract Documents and meet the Impact Standard requirements, in compliance with Florida Building Code (FBC) High Velocity Hurricane Zones (HVHZ) Protocols and required product Notice of Acceptance (NOA).</p><p>C. Subject to compliance with the specified requirements, provide products by one of the following manufacturers: (a) Acudor. (b) Karp Associates, Inc. (c) Larsen’s Manufacturing Co. (d) Nystrom, Inc.</p><p>2.2 MATERIALS</p><p>A. All access door and panel materials are to contain recycled content.</p><p>2.3 MANUFACTURED UNITS</p><p>A. Access Units: Furnish each access door assembly manufactured as an integral unit, complete with all parts and ready for installation and appropriate for the wall or ceiling type. Provide rated or non-rated as required.</p><p>B. Size: Large enough for adequate entry to accomplish inspection or servicing of item requiring access door, and as indicated on the Drawings.</p><p>C. Hardware: 1. Continuous piano hinge with stainless steel pin. 2. Spring closer on wall units. 3. Ball bearing latch bolt operated by flush key on wall units, provide 2 keys for each unit. 4. Screwdriver operated stainless steel cam latch for ceiling units. 5. Interior latch release mechanism on wall units.</p><p>2.4 FABRICATION</p><p>A. Gage of Steel: 1. Fabricate frames and flanges: 16 gage steel. 2. Door panels: 14 gage steel.</p><p>B. Insulated Units: Provide as necessary at sound rated walls and ceilings. Fabricate units with 2 inch thick non-combustible insulation filler sandwiched between 2 sheets of 20 gage steel.</p><p>C. Weld, fill, and grind joints to assure flush and square unit.</p><p>2.5 FINISHES 1. Base Metal Protection: Prime coat units with baked on primer. 2. Finish: Paint under provisions of Section 09900-Paints and Coatings.</p><p>PART 3 EXECUTION</p><p>3.1 PREPARATION</p><p>A. Install units under provisions of manufacturer’s instructions.</p><p>B. Install frames plumb and level in opening. Secure rigidly in place.</p><p>C. Position unit to provide convenient access to concealed work-requiring access.</p><p>D. Adjust and Clean: 1. Adjust hardware and panels after installation for proper operation. 2. Remove and replace panels for frames, which are warped, bowed or otherwise damaged. 3.
