You takin’ his pay away from him?” (22).</p><p>#3 (CM) The boss is suspicious and it seem like he assumes that George is doing something he shouldn’t.</p><p>#4 (CM) George and Lennie do a good job of hiding their friendship from others who don’t need to know about it.</p><p>#5 (CD) In addition, Slim thinks it’s strange that they travel together because no one else does.</p><p>#6 (CM) Slim seems to be more understanding than the boss about the fact that they travel around. </p><p>#7 (CM) People are often wary or prejudiced of things unknown to them.</p><p>#8 (CD) Furthermore, George and Lennie grew up together and are long time friends.</p><p>#9 (CM) They are almost as close as brothers and would probably do anything for one another.</p><p>#10 (CM) They have learned a rare patience for putting up with other people that most people on the farm lack.</p><p>#11 (CS) Friendships like George and Lennie’s are a rare and little understood thing to people of that time.</p>
