<p> For Proposals Submitted Under the Auspices of the Towson University Foundation</p><p>What You Can Expect If Funded</p><p>From the donor….</p><p>Most grant makers issue an award letter which details the amount of the award, the agreed upon payments schedule, and the terms of the award, to include restrictions on fund expenditures and all reporting requirements.</p><p>As principal investigator, you will be asked to review the terms of the award letter and advise if you agree to the content and are able to meet all reporting deadlines. In instances where changes are needed, revisions will be negotiated by Geannine Callaghan, Director of Strategic Initiatives and Foundation Relations or Ron Brown, Director of Corporate Relations & Major Gifts, as appropriate.</p><p>Award letters sometimes require counter signature as consent to accept the terms of the award. Although you will be asked to review the letter, please note that Principal Investigators are not authorized to accept awards on behalf of the Towson University Foundation. Authorized individuals include Gary N. Rubin, Executive Vice President of the TU Foundation and John J. Mease, Jr., Vice President of Finance for the TU Foundation.</p><p>From the Towson University Foundation….</p><p>An account will be established with the TU Foundation for the project. The TU Foundation provides financial management for the account and can produce a record of the expenditure of funds, as may be required by the grant maker.</p><p>The principal investigator will serve as program director for the TU Foundation account. Program directors are responsible for keeping expenditures in line with the approved budget, and for administering the account in accordance with the TU Foundation policies and procedures. To set up an appointment to review these policies and procedures, please call the TU Foundation office at 4-3278.</p><p>Grant Seekers Tool Kit Spring 2013 What to Expect if Funded When the approved budget includes salaries or stipends to persons employed by Towson University, the Towson University Foundation will request that the Office of Sponsored Programs and Research administer that portion of the grant through establishment of a separate PeopleSoft account. As expenses are posted to this account, the program director is responsible for submitting to the TU Foundation copies of the PeopleSoft documentation, along with a Request for Disbursement to repay the Office of Sponsored Programs & Research office for it outlay of funds. Program directors are responsible for following all university protocols related to employment and hiring prior to work beginning on the grant.</p><p>From the Development Office…</p><p>The Development Office has a process in place for receipting, acknowledging and recognizing donors. </p><p>If appropriate, Development staff will work with you to develop and carry out a stewardship plan to cultivate the on-going interest and favor of the donor. Where appropriate, Development staff will arrange for and coordinate site visits and other opportunities to showcase your project. </p><p>If during the project, unforeseen circumstances necessitate a change to the project’s timeline, scope of work/audience served, or budget, Development staff will notify the grantor and secure consent for program and budget modifications to the grant agreement.</p><p>Assistance will be provided in the preparation of required narrative and financial reports.</p><p>Questions?</p><p>Please call Geannine Callaghan or Ron Brown at 4-3375.</p><p>Grant Seekers Tool Kit Spring 2013 What to Expect if Funded</p>
