<p> Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance – CFDA Number</p><p>A CFDA number is a five-digit number assigned in the awarding document to most grants and cooperative agreements funded by the Federal government. It even applies to funds the Federal government awards to another entity and then that entity issues a sub- agreement to Purdue. It does not apply to Federal contracts and purchase orders or Non- Federal agreements where no Federal pass-through funds have been included. </p><p>This is a required field for all Federal or pass-through Federal funding as outlined in the new OMB Guidance 2 CFR 200. Reference sections 200.202; 200.302; 200.331; 200.510 and 200.516. </p><p>The assignment of the first two digits of the CFDA reflects the major Federal agency as designated below: Note, these are the ones most used at Purdue. If you find one that is designated differently, please discuss with the SPS Business Analyst. </p><p>10: U.S. Department of Agriculture 11: U.S. Department of Commerce 12: U.S. Department of Defense 14: Housing & Urban Development 15: U.S. Department of Interior 16: U.S. Department of Justice 17: U.S. Department of Labor 19: U.S. Department of State 20: U.S. Department of Transportation 43: National Aeronautics & Space Administration 45: National Endowment for the Arts & Humanities 47: National Science Foundation 59: Small Business Administration 66: Environmental Protection Agency 77: Nuclear Regulatory Commission 81: U.S. Department of Energy 84: U.S. Department of Education 93: U.S. Department of Health & Human Services 97: U.S. Department of Homeland Security 98: Agency for International Development 99:000 Central Intelligence Agency 99.001 Department of Veterans Affairs 99.002 United States International Trade Commission 99.003 Vietnam Education Foundation Federal grants and cooperative agreements, including Federal pass-through on State of Indiana agreements Assign the appropriate CFDA #</p><p>NASA and a few other Federal programs that do not assign a CFDA # Use the appropriate first two digits representing the major sponsor, followed by .001 . </p><p>Subagreements with Federal pass-through from a grant or cooperative agreement Assign the CFDA # included in the subagreement from the sponsor. If no CFDA # is given from the sponsor, use the appropriate first two digits representing the major sponsor, followed by.000</p><p>If you can’t locate the CFDA # Use the appropriate first two digits representing the major sponsor, followed by.FIN . This will allow you to proceed with establishing the award. The actual CFDA # should be assigned within 30 days. </p><p>Federal contracts and purchase orders Use the appropriate first two digits representing the major sponsor, followed by.000</p><p>All State grants that are Non-Federal Enter ‘NF’ indicating ‘Not Federal’, followed by.000</p><p>Non-Federal Agreements A CFDA is not required, but if entered, use ‘NF’ indicating ‘Not Federal’, followed by.000</p>
