Stamp Assignment-Paul Revere’s Ride

Paul Revere holds a well-deserved place among America’s greatest heroes for his contributions towards the establishment of an American state. This is only to be expected seeing as his greatest feat, the Midnight Ride, is said to have saved the burgeoning American Revolution in addition to actually causing it indirectly. On the night of April 18th, 1775, Revere and another patriot, William Dawes, observed a large British force heading towards Concord and resolved upon a course of action that would forever change American history. Revere and Dawes both set out to warn the militiamen, who had gathered munitions at Concord, of the impending British assault. However, Revere never reached Concord having been arrested by two British soldiers while passing through Lexington and thus was unable to warn the patriots of the offensive. Nevertheless, Revere was able to alarm many of the citizens of Lexington and thereby enable some of them to pass the message on to Concord. In doing so, Revere ensured that the patriots at Concord were able to relocate their stockpiles of munitions so that they may be used in future battles. In addition, Revere was also responsible for the fact that the local militiamen at Lexington confronted the British, seeing, as they would not have been aware of their presence otherwise. The subsequent battle at Lexington was the first of the American Revolution and exponentially escalated the discord between the colonies and their British masters. With this in mind, one can easily come to the conclusion that Paul Revere indirectly caused the American Revolution. In conclusion, it is clear the Paul Revere’s position of immense stature among American heroes is well deserved. This is only to be expected as his efforts both safeguarded and started the American Revolution. Bibliography Harris, Nathaniel. Spotlight on the American Revolution.
