VICTORIA. ANNO VICESIMO SECUNDO VICTORIA REGIN^. No. LXIV. An Act to alter the Electoral Districts of Victoria and to increase the number of Members of the Legislative Assembly thereof. [17th December, 1858.] T7I7HEREAS it is expedient that the several Electoral Districts Preamble. » * of Victoria should be altered so as to provide for a more equal distribution of the elective franchise and that the number of members of the Legislative Assembly be increased Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly in this present Parliament assembled as follows—that is to say: I. The tenth section of the Constitution Act together with the Repeal of Section X. schedule thereunto annexed marked F shall be and the same is hereby Constitution Act repealed. II. III. From and after the commencement of this Act the several Number of members electoral districts shall return the number of members assigned to them to be elected. in the said schedule and the Legislative Assembly shall consist of the total number of members so returned. After the said justices shall have compared the said lists compare and eer- with the said rolls and shall have certified the said lists in the manner tify the same. hereinbefore provided they shall transmit the same to the registrars of the district or districts to which the said rolls respectively relate or belong and the said registrars shall amend the said rolls by striking out therefrom all the names which shall have been inserted in the said lists of persons entitled to vote for the electoral districts of Ararat the Ovens South G-ipps Land and the East Bourke boroughs and the said registrars shall then submit the said lists and rolls when so amended to the justices of the peace assembled in petty sessions by whom the said rolls shall have been previously revised and certified who shall compare the said lists and amended rolls and shall certify the said rolls to have been amended and the said rolls so amended and certified shall until the next general rolls be made out be the general and special rolls for the districts to which they respectively relate or belong.
