<p>Job Description TITLE: Computing and ICT Technician GRADE: 7 (points 16-19) £16565 actuall salary HOURS: Permanent part time – 37 hours per week term time x 41 weeks RESPONSIBLE TO: ICT Systems Manager JOB PURPOSE: Based within the IT Services Department you will be working alongside and assisting the ICT Systems Manager with the many aspects of the ICT network infrastructure. Supporting all members of the staff and students in their use and understanding of ICT equipment and software. Helping to monitor and maintain the varied ICT hardware and software across the academy, including PCs, printers, any portable devices, switches and servers, wireless and cabled infrastructure along with all types of classroom ICT and multimedia equipment. Job Description  To check and maintain on a regular basis all ICT suites, ensuring where possible that they are fully effective and operational for lessons.  To be responsible for the logging, monitoring and actioning of the support calls via the helpdesk.  To man the ICT Helpdesk and telephone support when needed.  To assist in ensuring the efficient day to day running of all ICT resources including network printers, switches and servers, desktop computers, laptops, tablets, projectors, interactive whiteboards and touch screens, digital signage, multimedia and other portable equipment.  To update and maintain online systems including the website, Office 365, room booking system, “Groupcall”, “Ruler”, “ParentPay”, “School Comms”, and any of the on-line learning resources including “Show My Homework”, “Earwig”, “Active Teach”, active Learn”, “Kerboodle”, “Geo Maps”, etc.  To install, set up and test new software, commissioning new hardware as required.  To carry out routine maintenance including electrical testing, cleaning and repair of all types of ICT equipment.  To support children’s learning in the ICT suites and the classrooms, by supervising groups of students where appropriate as well as working alongside teachers.  To promote the use and understanding of ICT within the academy with staff, children and parents.  To ensure the availability of a fully operational network, admin and class computers and any other ICT equipment, liaising with on and off-site technical support where necessary.  To liaise with the ICT Systems Manager and teaching staff, identifying, evaluating and developing learning resources, software and equipment for use in the implementation of the National Curriculum for Computing and ICT, including input into the development of computer programming activities and multimedia system.  To liaise with the ICT Systems Manager and staff, identifying, evaluating and developing administration system with emphasis of efficient running of the network.  Maintenance of stock and inventory records.  To provide support, assistance and training for users of the Management Information Systems (MIS) on the network.  Upkeep of computer based pupil records/lists etc. and any other computer based administration/financial records needed to support the academy’s effective operations.  To undertake personal training and to use that training to improve and support the work of other computer users within the school.  Any other duties which may be reasonably required by the Principal or Line Manager.</p><p>SPECIAL FACTORS: Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply: (a) Due to nature of the work a flexible approach to working hours will be needed. (b) The nature of the work will on occasions involve the post holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours of the academy. (c) The post holder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service. (d) Expenses will be paid in accordance with the Local Conditions of Service. (e) This post is subject to a check being carried out at an Enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Service regarding any previous criminal record. The above list is not exhaustive and the duties may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variances are a common occurrence and cannot by themselves justify a reconsideration of the regrading of the post. It is vital to the ethos of the support team that the post holder is flexible in taking on tasks, willing to offer help to, and cover for, other members of the team, and treat co-operation and support for colleagues as a top priority.
