(Dec. 16, 2013) – Sundt Construction, Inc. has been awarded a contract to build a private detention center near San Diego, Calif., for Corrections Corporation of America (CCA). Sundt won the project based on submitting the low qualified bid, as well as its significant jail construction experience and the work it is performing for CCA on the Red Rock Correctional Center expansion in Eloy, Ariz. When completed in mid-2015, the new detention center will be a 350,000-square-foot, two-story facility located on a 35-acre site in Otay Mesa, Calif., just outside San Diego, near the Mexican border. CCA has contracted with the federal government to provide detention services to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Marshals departments.
