Having become familiar with them, one can move on to DZOGCHEN (rdzogs chen), literally translated 'great perfection', as the main practice of meditation. In this seminar SHEDRUP LOPON GESHE LODOE TSUKPHUD will explain the deep meaning of the preliminary practices. He will show that the preliminary practices must not only be accomplished, but that they must be deeply understood and carried out thoroughly. They facilitate the process of taming and purifying one's own state of mind and the reflection on essential factors of human life. With this focus, the benefit for the main practice becomes clear and the participants receive an introduction to DZOGCHEN and practice it. By concentrating on some of the preparatory exercises, SHEDRUP LOPON GESHE LODOE TSUKPHUD will also provide explanations of how philosophy and practice can be integrated into modern day life with its fast pace and numerous appearances. Biography: Shedrup Lopon Geshe Lodoe Tsukphud was born in 1976 in the village of Phoksundo in the Dolpo region of Nepal. When he was 15 years old, he was accepted as a lay monk in the gomdra of Thasung Tsoling Monastery in Phoksundo and carried out a 3­year, 3­month and 3­day retreat there. After this was completed, he came to the Kathmandu Valley and was completely ordained a monk under Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche at the Triten Norbutse Bonpo Monastery. In 1995 he began studying Sutra, Tantra and Dzogchen in the philosophical academy of Triten Norbutse. By 2007 he had completed his studies and earned the title of a Geshe that can be understood in the West as a "Doctor of Philosophy". From 2011 to 2012 Shedrup Lopon Geshe Lodoe Tsukphud taught philosophy in the monastery and also several times in Europe. In 2013, Yongdzin Lopon Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche and Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche awarded him the position of a Tsazin Lopon, a senior teacher. Later that year, they enthroned him as Shedrup Lopon, which is the highest type of teacher in the monastery. Since then he has been teaching Sutra, Mantra and Dzogchen and also some other subjects in Triten Norbutse..
