VI. A. Appointments to Various Ongoing Statutory Committees 5. Legislative Committee on Public Lands (NRS 218E.510) Summary: This Committee reviews and comments on matters relating to public lands and water resources. It includes four members of the Senate, four members of the Assembly, and an elected officer representing the governing body of a local political subdivision, all appointed by the Legislative Commission with appropriate regard for their experience with and knowledge of matters relating to public lands. The Legislative Commission is also authorized to appoint alternates for the members. The members elect a chair from one House and a vice chair from the other at the first meeting. The Committee will schedule approximately six half-day or longer meetings between September 1, 2019, and August 31, 2020. Four or more meetings are usually held in rural locations and may require overnight stays and driving to cities/towns not accessible by air. Through the enactment of AB 250, the 2019 Legislature appropriated $13,980 for five members of the Legislative Committee on Public Lands and one staff member of the Legislative Counsel Bureau to attend informational meetings and tours in Washington, D.C., during the 2019-2020 interim.
