SUMMARY 01-1000 - 1 August 20, 2020 BID DOCUMENTS UCONN Security Upgrades SUMMARY Project #300158 1.3 SUMMARY A. The work includes UConn dormitory upgrades of the electronic door access control systems: replacement of card reader devices, upgrades of door controllers and replacement of back-up batteries as shown on the project drawings and schedules. B. Components and materials shall be compatible with UConn’s existing Millenium XTRA door access control system software. 1.4 PROJECT INFORMATION A. Project Identification: Security Upgrades, UConn project # 300158. 1. Project Location: UConn Storrs Campus, Sorrs, CT >. B. Owner: University of Connecticut Owner's Representative: Charles Brome, Sr. Project Manager University of CT, 31 Ledoyt Rd., U-3038, Storrs, CT 06269 (860) 336-6600 1. Architect: Richard N. Wies AIA, principal 151 East St., New Haven, CT 06511 203-468-1967 x200 2. Architect's Consultants: The Architect has retained the following design professionals who have prepared designated portions of the Contract Documents: 1.5 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following: 1. Equipment replacement for selected door control devices and back-up batteries. 2. Removal of all debris caused by this Contract. 3. Protection of the public, building, grounds from damage during this contract is the responsibility of the Contractor for this project at all times. 4. Repair or replace landscaping including trees, shrubs or other planting disturbed during the Work of the contract with new to match existing, unless otherwise noted. Regrade and reseed any grass area damaged as a result of the Work. Repair any walkways or paved areas damaged as a result of the Work. SUMMARY 01-1000 - 2 August 20, 2020 BID DOCUMENTS UCONN Security Upgrades SUMMARY Project #300158 1.6 WORK UNDER SEPARATE CONTRACTS General: Cooperate fully with contractors that may have been issued separate contract(s) to perform certain construction operations at the site prior to construction activity under this contract so work on those contracts may be carried out smoothly, without interfering with or delaying work under this Contract or other contracts. Coordinate the Work of this Contract with work performed under separate contracts. 1.7 DEFINITIONS UNDER THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. Architect/Engineer: The term used to designate the Professional Consultant who contracts with the Owner or Design Builder to provide Architectural, Engineering, Interior Design, Commissioning services for the Project. The Architect is a separate consultant and not an agent of the Owner. The term includes any associates or sub-consultants employed or contracted by the Architect/Engineer to assist in providing the overall services. Such position shall be implied that they are the Architect/Engineer of record. B. Contract Arborist: The term used to designate a Professional Consultant who is in the practice of arboriculture and who is contracted by the Contractor. The Contract Arborist cannot also be the same individual or entity as the Project Arborist contracted by the Architect/Engineer and/or Owner. C. Contract Documents: The Contract between Owner and Contractor signed by the Owner and the Contractor and any documents expressly incorporated therein for the Project. Such incorporated documents customarily include the Contract and General Conditions, any Supplemental General Conditions, any Special Conditions, the plans and the specifications, and all modifications, including addenda and subsequent Change Orders. D. Contractor: The person or entity with whom the Owner has directly entered into a contractual agreement to do the Work. Applies to Construction Manager, General Contractor or Prime Contractor. Companies that are owned or operated by the same individual or entity, close relations, parent company or subsidiary, who operate under the same address and/or building, has either directly or indirectly any degree of ownership, management or control of another corporation, company or partnership; has directly or indirectly close relations or family members, share the same or adjacent space addresses or share resources to perform work as a joint venture formally or informally; is viewed as a signatory employer and not as separate trade supplier or installers who subcontracts and/or supply to each other. Such entities are viewed as a single pooled resource and therefore not separate unto each other. E. Day: Means a calendar day, 24-hour period. All response times and schedules shall be based on a calendar day, unless specifically noted otherwise. F. Daily Construction Report: A written daily log recording the day’s construction site activities conditions and progress. Daily Additional Work Tickets: Recording the day’s trade labor work performed for a change in the work issued by a CCD. H. Drawing: A page or sheet of the Plan which presents a graphic representation, usually drawn to scale, showing the technical information, design, location, and dimensions of various elements of the Work. The graphic representations include, but are not limited to, plan views, elevations, transverse and longitudinal sections, large and small scale sections and details, isometrics, diagrams, schedules, tables and/or pictures. I. Hourly Rate: An hourly rate for self-performed work. Self-performed work shall not be limited to trade labor, technical or professional service. Hourly rate shall be calculated utilizing the Hourly Rate Worksheet template identified within the contract documents. J. Like New Condition: The appearance of looking new having no marks, chips, or cracks. K. Notice to Proceed: A written notice given by the Owner to the Contractor (with a copy to A/E) fixing the date on which the Contract time will commence for the Contractor to begin the prosecution of the Work in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents. The Notice to Proceed will customarily identify a Contract Completion Date. L. Owner: University of Connecticut Office of University Planning, Design and Construction M. Project: The term used instead of the specific or proper assigned title of the entire undertaking which includes, but is not limited to, the “Work” described by the Contract Documents. N. Project Manager: The Project Manager as used herein shall be the Owner’s designated representative on the Project. The Project Manager shall be the person through whom the Owner generally conveys decisions. The Owner may change the Project Manager from time to time or may appoint an interim Project Manager. O. List Price/Cost: Shall mean manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the material or equipment. Such price includes freight/shipping, storage, handling, overhead and profit. P. Net Price: Shall mean the actual cost from the manufacturer or supplier to the contractor or subcontractor for the material or equipment. Such price includes freight/shipping, storage, handling, overhead and profit from the supplier. See definition of Supplier. Q. Site: Shall mean the location at which the Work is performed or is to be performed. Also referred to as Work Zone, Site Logistics Plan, and Construction Area. R. Small Tools: Shall mean
