GENERAL The performance of Public Works Department Buildings Organisation has been achieved through safe, efficient construction and maintenance of public buildings at reasonable cost, by utilizing modern technologies and experience attained through years of practice. Public Works Department is constructing and maintaining buildings such as Court Buildings, District Collectorates, Government Hospitals, Government Medical Colleges, Schools, Boys and Girls Hostel buildings, Government Quarters and other Government department buildings. 2.0. EXPENDITURE FOR THE YEAR 2016-2017 During the financial year 2016-2017, the following expenditure made under Demand No. 39 : Capital works expenditure : Rs. 718.01 Crore Establishment expenditure : Rs. 174.17 Crore Maintenance & : Rs. 45.37 Crore Minor works expenditure Total : Rs. 937.55 Crore 2 3.0. DEPARTMENT-WISE WORKS IMPLEMENTED IN 2016-2017 : 3.1. AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENT 3.1.1. Works completed Construction of Soil Testing Laboratory at Erode in Erode District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakhs completed. Construction of Library building & Staff Quarters building for Horticulture College and Research Institute for Women at Navalur Kuttapattu in Srirangam Taluk of Tiruchirappalli District at an estimated cost of Rs.5.25 Crore completed. Construction of Soil Testing Laboratory at Tirunelveli in Tirunelveli District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakhs completed. 3.1.2. Works in progress Construction of Integrated Agriculture Extension Centres at 50 Places at an estimated cost of Rs.75.00 Crore (Rs.1.50 Crore each) 30 works are completed and 20 works are in progress. Construction of Central Integrated Pest Management Centre at Panjupettai in Kancheepuram District at an estimated cost of Rs.31.50 Lakhs is in progress. Construction of Soil Testing Laboratory at Dindigul in Dindigul District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakhs is in progress. 3 Construction of Fertiliser Control Laboratory at Villupuram in Villupuram District at an estimated cost of Rs.60.00 Lakhs is in progress. 3.2. ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, DAIRYING AND FISHERIES DEPARTMENT 3.2.1. Works completed Construction of building for Veterinary Hospitals, Dispensaries, and other buildings at 226 places under NABARD assistance (Phase-XX) at an estimated cost of Rs.58.74 Crore completed. Construction of 450 works for Rural Veterinary Dispensary building under NABARD Assistance (Phase- XIX) at an estimated cost of Rs.94.78 Crore (Revised Estimate) completed. 3.2.2. Works in progress Construction of building for Rural Veterinary Dispensaries in 193 places under NABARD Assistance (Phase-XXI) at an estimated cost of Rs.40.53 Crore. Out of above, 180 works are completed, 10 works are in progress and 3 works are to be taken up. Construction of Integrated Office Complex Building at Government Farm Village at Saidapet, Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs.29.70 Crore is in progress. Construction of District Live Stock Farms at 7 places in Tamilnadu at an estimated cost of Rs.7.25 Crore. Out of above, 5 works completed and 2 works are in progress. 4 Construction of Bio-Security Wall to Institute of Veterinary Preventive Medicine at Ranipet in Vellore District at an estimated cost of Rs.2.07 Crore is in progress. Construction of building for 113 Veterinary Dispensaries and 2 Animal Disease Intelligence Units under NABARD Assistance (Phase-XXII) at an estimated cost of Rs.27.75 Crore. Out of above, 25 works are in progress and other works will be taken up. 3.3. BACKWARD CLASSES, MOST BACKWARD CLASSES AND MINORITIES WELFARE DEPARTMENT 3.3.1. Out of above, 98 works are completed and 16 works will be taken up. Construction of Toilet Block in 54 Kallar Higher Secondary / High / Middle / Primary Schools at various places at an estimated cost of Rs.5.79 Crore. Out of above, 52 works are completed and 2 works are in progress. Construction of Additional Laboratory, Additional Toilet Block and Compound Wall and Water Supply facilities to 48 Kallar Higher Secondary / High Schools at an estimated cost of Rs.11.49 Crore. Out of above, 32 works are completed, 13 works are in progress and 3 works will be taken up. Construction of Additional Dormitory for Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes and De-notified Community Students at 10 places at an estimated cost of Rs.4.50 Crore. Out of above, 5 works are completed, 5 works are in progress. 3.4. CIVIL SUPPLIES AND CONSUMER PROTECTION DEPARTMENT 3.4.1. Works completed Construction of building for Central Co-operative Bank Taluk Office and Manager Quarters (First Floor) at Namakkal in Namakkal District at an estimated cost of Rs.1.50 Crore completed. 7 Construction of building for Central Co-operative Bank Taluk Office with Conference Hall at Velur in Paramathy Velur Taluk of Namakkal District at an estimated cost of Rs.1.25 Crore completed. Construction of Branch building for Central Co- operative Bank and Manager Quarters at M.Kandampalayam in Paramathy Velur Taluk of Namakkal District at an estimated cost of Rs.1.00 Crore completed. 3.4.2. Works in progress Construction of building for District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum at Namakkal at an estimated cost of Rs.40.95 Lakh is in progress. Construction of building for Central Co-operative Bank Head office and 2 floors at Dharmapuri at an estimated cost of Rs.2.00 Crore is in progress. Construction of Additional building for Central Co- operative Bank at Krishnagiri at an estimated cost of Rs.61.50 Lakh is in progress. Construction of Consumer Co-Operative Whole Sale Godown and Self Service, Office Building at Thirupathur in Vellore District at an estimated cost of Rs.77.00 Lakhs is in progress. Construction of District Central Co-Operative Bank Branch at Kurinjipadi in Cuddalore District at an estimated cost of Rs.73.70 Lakhs is in progress. 8 3.5. COASTAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION PROJECT (CDRRP) 3.5.1. Works in progress Details of works for the construction of 121 Multipurpose Evacuation Shelters in 12 Coastal Districts in Tamil Nadu under Coastal Disaster Risk Reduction Project with World Bank Assistance at an estimated cost of Rs.345.60 Crore are as follows: Sl. Construction of building for Commercial Tax Staff Training Institute at Vellore in Vellore District at an estimated cost of Rs.2.75 Crore completed. Construction of building for Sub Registrar Office at Krishnarayapuram in Karur District at an estimated cost of Rs.57.75 Lakhs completed. Construction of building for Sub Registrar Office at Sendurai in Ariyalur District at an estimated cost of Rs.57.75 Lakhs completed. Construction of building for Sub Registrar Office at Sayalkudi in Ramanathapuram District at an estimated cost of Rs.57.75 Lakhs completed. Construction of building for Sub Registrar Office at Thiruvadanai in Ramanathapuram District at an estimated cost of Rs.57.75 Lakhs completed.
