IROQUOIA SPRING HIKES 2016 WEEKLY HIKES EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT CULHAM TRAIL MISSISSAUGA 1.5 - 2 hrs Brisk pace. Meet at Riverwood Visual Arts Centre in Mississauga. The centre is located just north of Burnhamthorpe Rd. between Mississauga Rd and Creditview Rd on Riverwood Park Lane. We will meet at 6:00 pm. in the parking lot at the top of the hilland hike along the Culham trail. Hike is cancelled if there is heavy rain. Leader: Nancy Stevens [email protected] EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT – Walk for Health and Fun (1.5hrs-2hrs) – Starts again on March 16. Climb the steps and walk the streets and trails of West Hamilton. Meet at 7:00 pm. (Note Earlier Time) at the corner of Mohawk and Upper Paradise in the Westcliffe Mall parking lot (near Food Basics). Starting in April (when evening daylight returns), we will hike sections of the Bruce Trail as well as the trails of Iroquoia Heights C.A. There will be weekly walks all summer. Hike is cancelled if there is heavy rain. Medium to fast pace and moderate terrain. Kelly is the author of Camino Meditations and has studied meditation since she was seventeen and ended out in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Nepal. In 2008, Kelly walked the 800-mile Camino de Santiago in northern Spain, walking in silence every morning. Every month, she will teach you a series of meditations that can be done standing, walking or sitting down. Meet for a 10:00 am. start at Trafalgar Ridge Plaza, 2431 Trafalgar Rd. Look for Home Sense/Winners. Park near the Scotia Bank, facing Trafalgar Rd. This hike takes in two of Oakville’s finest creek ravines. 9km. of trails, 3 km. of footpaths and 4 ponds. Mostly level, only a couple of short, steep hills. Mod-3. Bring snacks. Meet for 8:30 am. departure in the parking lot of Kerncliff Park, 2198 Kern’s Rd., below the escarpment. The parking lot is accessible by driving north on Kern’s Rd. from the North Service Rd. Take second entrance south of Dundas St. We’ll hike south towards the waterfall and return, stopping occasionally to make the acquaintance of trees. The trees are waking up and expanding their buds, some like the trembling aspen may already be in flower. Trees are already manufacturing sugar from even before their leaves have emerged, we’ll check how they do this. Hike may be shortened in case of rain. Pace: medium when walking. Terrain: moderate. Meet at 9:00 am. at Chedoke Golf Club parking lot off of Beddoe Drive. This hike will be similar to STS #1 where we will climb all of the sets of stairs (Chedoke, Dundurn, James, Wentworth, Kenilworth and Uli's) and hike in between them but, this time, when we get to the top of Uli's, we will hike back.
