The ABC of Your Parents’ Expectation 6 Preface This book is a collection of some articles, which were published in regional dailies in North East India and in some electronic media. A poem, “No Barrier in Love Affairs” was written during my post graduation but before that I never thought of writing poem, story or article. When I commence writing my Ph.D. thesis in 2003, I came to realize that writing is also just an art of practice and anyone who loves to write can do. Then I started to scribble all my thoughts on paper and this is just the collection of my thoughts, views, perception and projections. Life seems to be sailing so smoothly but after my mother and brother dead in 2003, I had many ups and downs in my life but it enabled me to ponder more deeply about my life and people around me. I love to scribble my thoughts and I keep writing since 1993; however my thoughts or quotations are not included in this book. Different people have different thoughts, views, philosophy, perception and projections. But I firmly believe that many people will be benefited and inspired reading some of my articles and poems in this book. It is obvious that no all the books are inspiring and valuable but there are some books or part of it – which is very inspiring and its worth to read. When the readers read and inspired even from one word or sentence; it is worth more than the price of any costly book. If you are a person who loves to read, and read to learn something from your reading, I am sure that there are some hidden valuable moral lessons and inspiration to get from this simple collection of articles and poems (thoughts). I write for the benefit of the people and it will be my pleasure to learn when some one is benefited or inspired from reading this book. I am very grateful to my Daddy and siblings who always give their moral and financial support for my education till my PhD. I wish my mom had seen the fruits of her hard labor on me. But she had left for her heavenly abode before she could see the fruits she has sown but I will always pray and do my best to fulfill her dreams and visions on me. My brother who left for his heavenly looked after me financially through out my high school and I wish that my brother also seen the fruit he has sown but it becomes only a wish now. I also want to give my special to my wife Thairu Veronica for her love, support and encouragement, which help me to keep reading and writing. I would also extend my thanks to my friends – S.L. Peter, John Basho Pou, Joy 7 Maikho and all other friends who are directly or indirectly encouraging me to write on… All the readers are welcome to give any implications and constructive criticism to improve in my writing. For any suggestion and constructive criticism can be emailed to me: [email protected]. Currently I am also writing a self-help book, “For a Better Living” and it will be published soon. Some of the articles “For a Better Living” also published in some local dailies in Nagaland and Manipur. I believe that you will be looking forward to read my upcoming book. Dr. R.B. Thohe Pou M.A. Ph.D. (Geography) 8 INTRODUCTION Some people become a good orator and some become a good writer, while some are exceptionally good both in oration and writing. Different people have different talents and potentials and we need to discover our own talents and potentials in our life; not everyone is good or bad in all fields. Our talents and potentials are used in different fields and I firmly believe that there is not a single person in this world who is useless. Are you one of the useless persons in this world? Of course you are not! Many politicians have become corrupted – the laymen also becoming corrupted in one way or other way. So today to tell the truth is becoming a sensitive issue and not everyone would like to tell the truth. However, to hide away the truth is a painful aspect for the outspoken people. In one interview by media person with one of the senior Congress leaders in Manipur, he said, “You can ask me any questions but don’t ask me any sensitive issue”. Here he indirectly says that he cannot tell the truth because today telling the truth is a sensitive issue. Many aspiring politicians or leaders also become the parasite of the political leaders and they cannot tell anything against their leaders. In India, Right to Information (RTI) Act was passed in 2005 and the implementation is just commencing but some of the right activists were already killed in some States. This is just because the implementation of RTI becomes a sensitive issue as it exposes the truth and many people cannot face the truth. There are only some outspoken persons and the people who love to tell the truth. People don’t want to reveal the truth in fear for threatening of life and they are always circumspective to expose the truth. Some of the truth that I’ve revealed or published in local dailies through my articles also may be disturbing to some people but the truth cannot be denied. The present book is only the collection of articles, which were published in local dailies and other electronic media but some of the sensitive articles are not included for some other reasons. This book is divided into Four Sections. The First section of the book deals about the Naga transitional period. In this section, a brief Naga political history is discussed for the readers who are new to Naga history.
