This is the first of three 8 substantive analyses (‘Āina, Community, Economy). 9 Importantly, this appendix is NOT the Hāmākua CDP, instead, for each of Hāmākua’s resource 10 management priorities, this appendix does four things: 11 . Outlines existing policy, especially County policy established in the General Plan; 12 . Summarizes related, past planning and studies; 13 . Introduces alternative strategies available to achieve Hāmākua’s community objectives; 14 . Preliminarily identify feasible strategy directions. 15 In other words, this appendix sets the context for identifying preferred CDP strategies. Existing policy 16 provides the framework in which the CDP is operating, related plans identify complementary initiatives, 17 and alternative strategies introduce the “tool box” from which the CDP can choose the best tools for the 18 CDP Planning Area. 19 CDP Outline 20 Currently, the CDP is structured as follows.
