FIRST St. Louis Championship 2012 Compiled by FIRST Team 1208 So, you’re coming to St. Louis! You might have some questions... What’s different & what’s the same? (page 2) Where can we stay? (page 3) Where can we eat lunch? (page 4) Where can we eat dinner? (page 5-6) What can we do in our spare time? (page 7-13) How do we get to the Competition? (page 14) How do we use Metrolink? (page 15) Where do we park at the Competition? (page16) Where is the nearest ... Hardware store (page 17) Walmart/Target (page 18) Shopping Malls (page 19) 1 Both venues are convention centers connected to an indoor stadium used for NFL games. The St. Louis convention center is adjacent to the stadium, thus the distance from the pits to the playing fields will be considerably shorter than it was in Atlanta. The Edward Jones Dome (EJD) is in downtown St. Louis, while the Georgia Dome is slightly outside of downtown Atlanta. This means that the access to the EJD will be more congested and the load in/out area is smaller. Teams should anticipate that unloading/loading busses and/or equipment will take longer in St. Louis than in Atlanta. Both St. Louis and Atlanta are large urban areas and thus have the problems usually associated with such areas. Teams should use the same safety precautions as in Atlanta. Unlike Atlanta, St. Louis has several hotels located within one block of the venue. Teams using these hotels will not need vehicles for transport to and from the venue. The Georgia Dome is located right next to the CNN Center where there is an expansive food court. Downtown St. Louis does not have an equivalent facility. Numerous restaurants, delis, and diners, however, are located a short walk south of the EJD. Page 4 of this document locates several of these food sources. Both Atlanta and St. Louis have paid parking next to the venue. Several St. Louis parking garages are very conveniently located. Cheaper alternatives are a block or two away. It is recommended that teams use the paid parking rather than parking in the street. 2 Located in or near downtown St. Louis See the FIRST Championship website for deals on hotels *Prices given for rooms with two double beds Chase Park Plaza: 3 ½ stars 212 North Kingshighway Boulevard, St. Louis, MO (314) 633-3000 ~ $209 per room Millennium Hotel St. Louis: 3 stars 200 South 4th Street, St. Louis, MO (314) 241-9500 ~ $159 per room Parkway Hotel: 3 ½ stars 4550 Forest Park Avenue, St. Louis, MO (314) 256-7777 ~ $139 per room Drury Inn Union Station St. Louis: 4 stars 201 South 20th Street, St. Louis, MO (314) 231-3900 ~ $130 per room Omni Majestic Hotel: 4 stars 1019 Pine Street, St. Louis, MO (314) 436-2355 ~ $175 per room Holiday Inn Hotel St. Louis-Forest Pk/ Hampton Ave: 3 stars 5915 Wilson Avenue, St. Louis, MO (314) 645-0700 ~ $112 per room Hilton St. Louis Downtown: 4 stars 1 St. Louis Union Station, St. Louis, MO (314) 621-5262 ~ $109 St. Louis Union Station Marriott: 4 stars 1 St. Louis Union Station, St. Louis, MO (314) 621-5262 ~$179 per room 3 6th and Lucas (1) Savory Deli (2) Dee Dee’s Deli (3) Sports bar, $5 Express Lunch American, Salads, Sandwiches, Soups Under $10 per entrée Pizza, Sandwiches, Pasta, Salads, Soup, 500 N Broadway # 100 St Louis, MO 63102 Sandwiches Toasted Ravioli (314) 588-1600 .1 miles away from EJD .1 mile away from EJD Mon.-Fri., 7 am-3 pm Closed Sat 911 Washington, Ave. St Louis, MO 63102 626 N.
