Stanford Tennis Congratulates EPATT on its No. 1 Ranking and Salutes Gaby Quintanilla for her Academic and Tennis Results First Serve Inc, has recently released its national rankings for tennis and education not for profit programs. The East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring Program (EPATT) is proud to announce that it has received the distinction of being ranked No. 1 in the country for the 2008-09 academic year. In addi- tion to evaluating programs, First Serve also provides a Life Skills curriculum and runs a student-athlete competition that ranks students based on school grades and tennis tournament results. Six-year EPATT participant Gaby Quintanilla finished the year ranked No. 3 in the country for high school stu- dents. Gaby, a senior this year, will receive a $1,000 scholarship upon college entrance. First Serve provides the curriculum and competition at no cost to tennis and education programs. EPATT provides one-on-one academic tutoring and group tennis instruc- tion for over 100 children in the kindergarten through 12th grades. EPATT has become the national model for education and tennis programs and flourishes year round at the Taube Family Tennis Center on the Stanford University campus. The Cardinal has not lost at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium since a 5-4 setback against No. 4 California back on Feb. 27, 1999. Stanford has nine regular-season matches on tap in 2010, beginning with UC Davis on Feb. 2. Doubles Experience Leads The Way Just like the men’s team, the women’s squad boasts one of the best doubles team in the country. After finishing as the national runners-up in 2009, junior Hilary Barte and senior Lindsay Burdette enter the spring season ranked No. 1 and the duo remains a serious contender to win the national championship. Barte and Burdette have chalked up a stellar 13-1 record so far in 2009-10, already claiming tournament titles at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, ITA National Indoor Championships and NCTC Classic. The youngest Burdette to play at Stanford, Mallory earned a No. 16 national 2008-09 Stanford Women’s Tennis Roster ranking following a fall season that saw her finish 12-2 while posting a Name Height Class Hometown Last School 4-2 mark against nationally-ranked foes. Mallory joins her sister, senior Hilary Barte 5-5 Jr. Chatsworth, CA Harvard-Westlake HS Lindsay, who has received All-America accolades in doubles during all three seasons.
