PHI SLAMA JAMA NCAA FINAL FOUR • 1983 “TEXAS’ TALLEST FRATERNIT Y” Born from the fast break and furious slam dunking style of play, Texas’ tallest fraternity leapt to the top of college basketball charts in 1982-83. Houston’s “Phi Slama Jama” compiled a 31-3 record, put together the nation’s longest winning streak of 26 games and finished the season as the nation’s top-ranked team. Back row (left to right): Benny Anders, Gary Orsak, Larry Micheaux, the SWC Postseason Classic, defeated second-ranked Louisville in the NCAA Dan Bunce, Akeem Olajuwon, David Bunce, Clyde Drexler and Michael Young. Final Four and was an NCAA Finalist before suffering a 54-52 loss against North Carolina State in the NCAA Championship game.
