An edition of 509 copies printed. PEEFAOE. After several unavoidable delays, the writer has the pleasure of presenting the first number of the Canadian Catalogue. It will not be claimed that it is by any means a complete Catalogue of Canadian Books, but only i,oo6 titles, so arranged as to be easily referred to. The proposed idea is, to continue issuing the parts until (as near as possible), a complete list may be obtained of all the books and pamphlets printed, or published in the Dominion, from the first printed book in 1767 to the end of 1895, and from this date to issue annual lists for each year, beginning with 1896. The prices quoted are all taken from Canadian lists, and are the highest given, and, on the whole, may be considered fairly current prices. if The sizes have been given in inches, with an index table, as the various sizes could hardly be classed under any existing scale at present in use. It has been the aim of the writer to have the list as carefully compiled as possible, and if any omissions, or inaccuracies have occurred, he will esteem it a personal favor to have his attention called to the same, that ensuing numbers may be made more perfect.
