BOX 4548, SILVER SPRING, MD 20914. Web Address: www.JainSocietyDC.org New Jain Center/Shikharbandhi Temples Project Our members have generously donated for the Jain Center fund to build a New Jain Center with Shikharbandhi temples. These funds are the foundation for starting this project, and hence these funds will be called “Founders Fund”. Start of “General Fund” for Pre‐payment for Pratishtha or Other Items On August 23, 2015, the general body approved the plan for the New Jain Center/Shikharbandhi Temples project, and currently we are in the process of sending the application with the plans to the PG County for approval. Now we need to raise funds so that we can start construction immediately after its approval in early 2016. Beginning September 13th, in addition to the “Founders Fund”, we are now opening a new flexible fund called “General Fund” for the New Jain Center/Shikharbandhi Temples project. All members are encouraged to start putting their donations in this “General Fund” for this project and start taking tax deductions each year. These funds are flexible and can be used for any of the following: a) Gheeboli/Nakro for performing any Pre‐Pratishtha or Pratishtha ceremonies, b) Sponsoring any of the item(s) from the “Fixed Nakro List” c) Recognition on the “Founders Board”, d) Participation in any Special Fund‐Raising Schemes Prior to Pratishtha, members will be informed of the total fund in their “General Fund” account, so that they can make their plan for using these funds during Pratishtha Programs. After Pratishtha, members will be informed of their Gheeboli/Nakro pledges made during Pratishtha program. If their total pledges during Pratishtha exceed the total fund in their “General Fund” account, members should pay the balance due within 3 months after Pratishtha. Note that for recognition, full payment for each Gheeboli/Nakro must be made within 3 months after Pratishtha. If the total amount of fund in the “General Fund” is more than the Gheeboli/Nakro pledges made during Pratishtha program, there will be some balance fund left in the “General Fund”. Members will be allowed a period of 3 months after Pratishtha to transfer these balance funds or part of it (a) to sponsor an available item from the Fixed Nakro List, and/or (b) to any Special Fund‐Raising Scheme(s). Remaining balance, if any, will be transferred to their “Founders Fund” account. Sponsoring Items from the Fixed Nakro List Members are welcome to sponsor any of the items from the attached “Fixed Nakro List”. This list has been prepared based on similar lists from a number of other Jain temples in North America. The total donation items in the temple area have been based on items’ religious importance/significance, and not on their cost/size; whereas, total donation amounts for items in the educational and social area are generally based on both their size/cost and significance. Some of the donation items are further broken into 2, 3 or 4 sponsorship line items to reduce the donation amount by each sponsor. Members who wish to sponsor any of the items on the Fixed Nakro List should mail their form(s) for sponsorship of their choice item(s) along with their check to Jain Society, P .O. Box 4548, Silver Spring, MD 20914. For this initial submission only, you can also hand‐deliver your form(s) to either Pravin Dand in Maryland ([email protected], contact phone: 301‐384‐3367) or Manoj Dharamsi in Virginia ([email protected], contact phone: 703‐620‐ 9837). Jain Society of Metropolitan Washington A non-profit tax-exempt religious organization, id # 54-1139623 P.O. BOX 4548, SILVER SPRING, MD 20914. Web Address: www.JainSocietyDC.org All forms received by the deadline of October 29, 2015 will be opened in a meeting on November 1, 2015 at 2 PM and sponsors making full payment for their choice item(s) will be allocated sponsorship of that item. In case there are more than one sponsors making full payment for any item, a lucky draw will be held. The checks received from members who are not selected in the lucky draw can be returned or deposited in their “General Fund” account as desired. After October 29, allocation of sponsorship on forms received will be done on a first come first served basis of receiving full payment for that item. Deadline for receiving full payment is 31 March 2017. Since allocation of sponsorship is based on receiving full payment for any item on a first come first served basis, members are encouraged to make full payment at an earlier date to be the first to make full payment for their selected item. For example, member “A” has made a request for an item and has made only partial payment for that item. However, later on, Member “B” wants to sponsor the same item and makes full payment for that item, sponsorship will be allocated to member “B” if only one sponsorship is available for that item. The donations made by member “A” for that item will be deposited in his/hers “General Fund” account (Please see next paragraph, if the request for sponsorship includes transfer from “Founders Fund”). In case of a conflict on sponsorship of the same item because of receipt of full payment for it on the same day from more than one person, the BOT will resolve the conflict by inviting them to a lucky draw. The donations made by the person who was not selected for sponsorship will be deposited in his/her “General Fund” account (Please see next paragraph, If the request for sponsorship includes transfer from “Founders Fund”). Option for Transferring Funds from “Founders Fund” Members who have donated to the “Jain Center Fund” (now called “Founders Fund”) are being given a one‐time option to transfer part or full amount of their donation from the “Founders Fund” for sponsoring one or more items from the attached “Fixed Nakro List”.
