Denise Kaigler Head of Global Corporate Communications and Corporate Citizenship, Reebok and Corporate Communications U.S., adidas Group Denise Kaigler is the head of Global Corporate Communications and Corporate Citizenship for Reebok International Ltd. and Corporate Communications in the United States for the adidas Group, the parent company of Reebok. Her Global Corporate Communications responsibilities include corporate media relations; corporate and executive communications; reputation and image management; business and retail communications; crisis/issues management, and employee communications. Denise also serves as the chief company spokesperson and the communications strategist for the President and CEO of Reebok. In April 2007, Denise assumed the additional responsibility of heading the company’s first-ever Global Corporate Citizenship function, expanding upon the brand’s long-standing commitment to human rights. As head of Reebok’s Corporate Citizenship function, Denise serves as the Executive Director of the Reebok Foundation. In addition to the Foundation, Corporate Citizenship includes Community Relations, Government Relations and Reebok 4 Real, a brand initiative that connects Reebok employees, athletes/artists and retailers to support and empower under-served global youth to fulfill their potential to live active, healthy and successful lives. In addition to her Reebok brand responsibilities, Denise also supports the corporate communications programs and initiatives in the U.S. for the adidas Group. This includes assisting the adidas Group Chairman and CEO on his communications programs in North America, supporting the corporation’s Investor Relations team on earnings announcements, annual reports, analysts’ presentations and investors’ meetings, providing communications support to the Group’s other corporate administrative functions such as Human Resources, Legal and Operations, and coordinating corporate press events. Denise reports to the President of the Reebok brand and the Chief Corporate Communications Officer for the adidas Group. Denise, who travels extensively around the world, is based at the Reebok World Headquarters in Canton, Massachusetts. Prior to her current role, Denise was Reebok’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Relations and Chief Communications Officer. Promoted to this position in September 2004, Denise was responsible for developing and managing the company’s corporate relations programs as well as overseeing all corporate and financial communications for the corporation, which included the Reebok Division, The Rockport Company, Greg Norman Collection and The Hockey Company. In this role, Denise reported directly to the company’s former Chairman and CEO. Among her responsibilities, she wrote and produced his speeches and presentations for financial, business, industry and academic programs and events. In announcing Denise’s promotion, the former Reebok Chairman described her as a “strong and effective leader, talented visionary and strategic partner.” Denise has also served as the company’s Vice President of Global Communications and Talent Relations, primarily focused on the Reebok brand. In this role, which she was appointed to in July 2001, Denise was accountable for creating a comprehensive and worldwide marketing communications strategy that effectively conveyed the vision, mission and attitude of Reebok. In 2004, Denise spearheaded Reebok’s LA Initiative, a series of strategic marketing and communications programs created to increase the brand’s presence in Los Angeles. Furthermore, Denise spearheaded numerous global product and marketing launch events for the Reebok brand, including the critical launches of several signature products endorsed by high profile celebrities, including Allen Iverson, Venus Williams, Andy Roddick, Jay-Z, 50 Cent and Pharrell Williams. In April 1998, Denise joined The Rockport Company to serve as its Director of Corporate Communications and Entertainment Marketing. In this role, Denise significantly enhanced the communications and entertainment marketing function at Rockport, creating brand-building initiatives that increased editorial coverage and exposure to LA’s entertainment community. In November 1999, after an 18-month stint at Rockport, Denise was brought back to the corporate office as Senior Director of Corporate Communications. In April 2000, she assumed the additional responsibilities of managing global public and media relations. In December 2000, Denise was tapped to head the entire communications department for the Reebok brand and was named Senior Director of Global Communications. Denise first joined Reebok in June 1991 as Media Relations Specialist in the Marketing Communications department. Prior to joining Reebok, Denise was the Director of Communications for Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston. Before she entered the public relations field in 1989, Denise was a journalist. Her television reporting credits include WLTZ-TV (NBC affiliate) in Columbus, Georgia and WHDH-TV (NBC affiliate) in Boston, Massachusetts. She began her journalism career as a freelance reporter for Boston-based radio station WILD. Denise is an active participant in several professional organizations, including the Arthur W. Page Society, PR Seminar, the Public Relations Society of America and the Boston Association of Black Communicators. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Boston Chamber of Commerce. Denise is also active in the non-profit community. Denise is a former member of the Board of Directors of Sportsmen’s Tennis Club, a Boston-based non-profit organization with a mission to integrate sports, academic support, character building and community building. She also served as co-chair of 2003 Steppin’ Out, a high- profile fundraising event to support Dimock Community Health Center, a Boston-based non-profit organization, and was co-chair of the 2004 gala for The Big Sister Association of Greater Boston, a record setting fundraiser for the non-profit organization. In 2005, Denise co-chaired the Women’s Leadership program for the United Way of Eastern Massachusetts. In 2006, she co-chaired the 2006 Strength & Achievement fundraiser for the Sportsmen’s Tennis Club. Denise has received several honors for her professional accomplishments and dedication to community service. In March 2004, Denise was honored as one of the “25 Most Influential Black Women in Business” by The Network Journal magazine. In January 2005, she was selected as one of the six “Women to Watch in 2005” by Boston Women’s Business magazine. Also in 2005, Denise received the “Exceptional Women in Business” award from Boston radio station Magic 106.7, the “Academy of Women Achievers” award from the YWCA, the “Mary Eliza Mahoney” award from the Dimock Community Health Center, and the “Alumni Achievement” award from Emerson College. In 2006, Denise was named to Profiles in Diversity Journal’s list of “Women Worth Watching in 2006.” She also delivered the 2006 commencement address to the graduates of Western New England College, where she also received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the Springfield, Massachusetts-based school. Denise is a 1985 graduate of Emerson College in Boston where she majored in Journalism. She currently resides in Massachusetts with her husband, a Boston attorney, and their two children. .
