February 2018 Sustainable Access Profile EASTER COMPTON Population Households 2017 Dwelling Number 2011 Census 2011 Census 538 223 230 Although lacking in health facilities, within 800m walking or cycling distance there are community facilities in Easter Compton. These comprise Easter Compton Village Hall, which three times a week contains a Post Office facility, and nearby The Fox; a public house. There are limited convenience (food) retailers within a sustainable distance of the settlement in the form of Manor Farm Food Shop and also one comparison retail store within 1200m, but no multiple retailers, large scale food buying facilities or a town centre. Three major employers and four safeguarded employment areas are within 2km walking and cycling distance of this settlement, as well as three primary schools and one secondary school within 2 and 3 miles respectively. There is suitably frequent and timed public transport connections to designated centres at Bradley Stoke, Filton and Patchway and a direct service taking under 15 minutes to Cribbs Causeway. These services can assist sustainable access to key services and facilities missing in Easter Compton itself. Facilities shown in colour represent those considered to be within walking and cycling distance of the centre of the settlement. 5 February 2018 Sustainable Access Profile CONSULTATION CHANGES A Rural Settlements and Villages 2015 Topic Paper was subject to public consultation in November 2015, separately in January 2017 Sustainable Access Profiles were made available for public consultation. A range of comments were received on the type of key services & facilities included. Comments on key services & facilities considered accessible from individual settlements were also received. Key changes made to the range of key services and facilities include: CONSULTATION COMMENTS AND UPDATES Facility Justification Comparison Stores Comments on the 2015 Topic Paper stressed the need to update checks of services and facilities present in each village. In 2016, one comparison store, “Dinky Deli” a coffee and patisserie shop were added to the profile for Easter Compton. Mobile Libraries - As a result of consultation comments on the 2015 Topic Paper, relating to Removed the lack of frequency, limited availability in many areas mobile libraries have been removed from the list of key services and facilities. Safeguarded Consultation comments on the 2015 Topic Paper found it necessary to give Employment Areas greater consideration to access to employment. Consequently safeguarded - Included employment areas (CS12 of Core Strategy) have been included. Easter Compton has access to a number of Safeguarded employment areas within 2km walk or cycle, in both the Avonmouth/Severnside area and Cribbs Causeway/north fringe of Bristol.
