There certainly is a feel of the change of seasons as the early mornings certainly are much cooler; with the changing of the clocks this weekend, nightfall will be upon us as most of us head home for the day for these next two or so months. From the The month of November is, in my view, a pretty special time as we enjoy the public President opportunity to remember and give thanks. We remember in early November, on Monday the 4th this year, the passing of Palma students and graduates who walked the halls of Palma since the very beginning back in 1951. Our own Mr. Willie Beesley has put together Each of us a nice slide presentation of each student and graduate we know has passed to their has been heavenly reward; this program runs throughout the entire day in the MPB; please feel blessed by our free to stop in and witness the faces and names of those who have gone before us. loving Creator November is best known as the time of year we, as a nation, celebrate Thanksgiving. One can never be fi lled with too much gratitude. A natural or even unnatural disposition to gratitude has enormous implications for the way we express ourselves and the relationships we cultivate in community. A simple note of gratitude has tremendous power to infl uence the fl ow of a From the person’s day. A smile of gratitude can disarm all defenses premeditated by a person wallowing in self-deprecating frustrations of being under appreciated. The very notion of Principal disciplining the self to be more grateful is capable of changing a person’s tendency of response to confl ict and sudden disappointments, even changing a person’s entire attitude and relationship with others. School principals could learn much from gratitude. As the season of Thanksgiving Humbled with gratitude, I want to thank you — faculty, staff , parents, and students — is upon us, we for your support of our mission here at Palma. I share my gratitude for the community we work hard to build together here for tomorrow’s leaders of the Church and society. are mindful of We have highly committed teachers and staff who care — even in spite of the diffi culties the many gifts we often face throughout the day. We have parents who love, support and value their for which we sons and quality education of the mind, body and soul. We have a safe and nurturing environment here where Christ is the reason for who we are and what we do. I am grateful! are abundantly grateful. As the season of Thanksgiving is upon us, we are mindful of the many gifts for which we are abundantly grateful. We must also be mindful of the many needs throughout our world fi lled with inequality. Hunger exists everywhere. People are hungry for nourishment, for spiritual fulfi llment, and even for love. Let us be reminded of those, perhaps, even among our own families, who need more of our gratitude; who need more of our love. The holidays can be awfully diffi cult on those who are starved of such good things we often take for granted. In gratitude for you all this Thanksgiving, go Chieftains!
