The Draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan (Draft Plan) sets out proposed future uses for about 84 hectares of mainly residential land in the red zone areas of Kaiapoi, The Pines Beach and Kairaki. Possible uses include sport and recreation, and rural and business activity. The four-week period for the public to give feedback on the Draft Plan ended on 1 September 2016. People o¨ered their thoughts through written comment forms and online. Oªcials will study the feedback and provide advice to the Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration, Gerry Brownlee, to be considered along with the Draft Plan. The Minister will then make a decision on whether to approve the plan, or if any changes should be made. A nal decision is expected later this year.
